Except they did not, did they?
Look at IRL Okinawa. Those means had little impact on the defences there. Allow the Japanese to dig in the same and you’ll get the same outcome.
Also if we’re going realistic, then friendly fire from such means would be funny to see too. No more HE spamming into CPs contested by allies, unless you want a friendly squad wipe and instant-leave from a match.
Oh yeah, forgot to add
These happened before the battle since Naval bombardment was inaccurate and thus risked friendly fire. And direct CAS wasn’t as common in Pacific as it was in Europe.
Tanks were usually not immediately present on the battlefields of islands, usually they came in later waves so until then, you’re stuck with Marines. And should you want them in the Jungles of Pacific, then prepare to get stuck to main roads covered on all sides by lush jungle, meaning without inf cover, you’d make an easy picking by AT ambushers. - Oh, no grey zones btw. That didn’t exist IRL either, so no more safe camping in an untouchable area.
in real ww2 japan fought from defensive positions
and still often at best inflicted comparative casualties often suffering greater casualties
so what have japan always on the defense
Though a significant part was caused by their suicidal loyalty and will to fight. It’s hard comparing casualties when the enemy fights to the last man regardless if they have weapons, are hurt or have already lost.
I’d say, despite their disadvantages, especially concerning naval/air supremacy and lacking proper late war weapons, they went toe to toe with a better equipped enemy and still often held longer than anyone anticipated.
Not in early war, they were on offense then. In later sure, but even then they did counter-attacks to retake positions, so that still counts as offense. Those counter-attack often being the most loss ratio intensive for the Japs.
I am not saying they lacked for bravery charging with a knife or stick takes more than i or most people have. they also fought disease and starvation with lack of ammo and fuel. but they were fighting a loosing war which is not good for a multiplayer game like enlisted. there weapons became increasingly obsolete, there production capabilites with help from the us air force strained to meet demands. it has made a hell of a lot of fun campaign but the real jp army would not clock out at br3 but br2.
Not unless loadout restrictions were enforced. If I can haul an MG squad with 4 Bars, then yeah, they can’t really answer that, but it’s also not what you’d see realistically. There was 1 Bar per squad if I remember correctly.
The disadvantage can be balanced by map layouts that deny the firepower advantage to flourish, but regardless it would certainly be a match-up, that if won by Japs, would be done via pure skill on player side, while US would have the equipment advantage.
But that is not here nor there. This is Enlisted we’re talking about. Arcade and has not seen historical accuracy let alone realism for quite some time. No reason to dream of things that’ll never happen. Go for HLL or Squad 44 if you have the hardware specs and you want such gameplay.
