Suggestions about recent AI bomber score penalty

Hello Gaijin,
There is currently a penalty for players who destroy AI bombers, and I believe this decision is not suitable. Allow me to explain why.

As someone who plays a variety of games, including Enlisted, I have noticed that when developers find that players are not using a particular mechanic in the way they intended, they often nerf the rewards associated with it to discourage such behavior. However, this approach usually receives extremely negative feedback.

It is worth noting that the same developers who design and release these mechanics are the ones who end up punishing the players for utilizing them. This contradiction can lead to frustration among the player base.

Instead of implementing penalties, there are better alternatives to adjust the situation. Here’s few suggestions:

  • Maintain the AI bombers’ score value at 350.
  • Increase the score value for player-controlled aircraft by 50%.
  • Apply the same approach to infantry units. AI infantry would be worth a base score of 30, AI soldiers from player-controlled squads would be worth 45, and soldier that player-controlled currently would be worth 60.

By implementing this solution, not only would it increase players’ willingness to play on the disadvantaged side, but it would also greatly encourage players to engage in the desired gameplay style. It benefits both the players and the developers.

It’s important to consider the potential consequences of penalizing players for certain gameplay methods. By providing rewards for playing the way developers intend, you avoid the risk of losing customers and the negative impact it can have on the game.

As you can see, the recent issues with War Thunder is similar to this one. Your coworkers have soaked into a chaos already, don’t try to follow them again!

Regards.

It’s not even a penalty, just a reduced reward. And it’s still worth it, taking down a whole bomber formation or even just a few of them.

Point reward for AI bombers was unreasonably high in comparison to literally everything else.
And I don’t think they would raise up rewards for everything else just to balance one thing, lol.

Listen, points should directly represent how important your performed task was for helping your team to secure victory.

So getting an entire vehicle kill score for just taking down a bomber that might or might not kill some AI is obviously not right.

Yes there should be purpose to plane combat, however right now it only functions a semi decent area denial tool / tank revenge kill mechanic.

Giving points to a useless task will only teach the players to play without a brain.

What are you talking about? You think it was fair that someone did 70-100 kills with a high amount of engineering points just to be beaten by someone destroying the bombing raid? Don’t get me wrong, couldn’t care less for the scoreboard position but yet it was so unrealistic. In my books: good and fair change.

It doesn’t matter much to me… I fly a lot. And I mean a lot… my priority targets are always human controlled planes, then enemy tanks, then mg or hmg nests, THEN bomber formations in that order…

And ppl don’t call as much bomber strikes as we may think…

What I mean is I’m always busy in the air, I rarely have time to chase down the entire formation after they already bombed, and STILL finish top of the leaderboards… because planes are good. It doesn’t feel such a huge xp nerf.

Ofc I’m against any kind of nerf making progress longer and xp gain lower… But at least that nerf isn’t too apparent so I can live with even if I preferred it wasn’t nerfed.

If we’re honest, the AI planes only reward an overwhelming amount for points during events, they’re really not helpful in reducing the grind, if you just fly and destroy AI bombers you’ll get more points than anything, but at the end of the game you can see that you will not get much progress to level up

AI bombers are still an attractive target.

The only thing I don’t like about this score change is that fighter planes get more ext than AA.
Though I understand why it’s this way.

But my precious consistency is being ruined yet again

I think bomber reduction of points were fair, but I like the infantry suggestion one.

You should get more points for shooting down a bomber before it drops its bombs than after.

So I have 2 parts to note in regards to this topic:

  1. They have absolutely butchered AA as of late, making it EXTREMELY difficult to actually take out bombers. This needs to be addressed.
  2. I personally enjoy playing as a support player, but I can agree that players that think their sole purpose is to shoot down planes is a bit problematic. The solution I think actually lies within one of two things.

The reason for this is that shooting bomber planes made it easy to farm score. Whoever focused on the planes would gain top spot. The reward was too high for the effort and usefulness of targeting them. You are not penalized.

I also think your idea of “encouraging players to engage in their desired gameplay style” is a complete misunderstanding. For almost all people who say stuff like this, it means passive noninteractive gameplay where you die as little as possible, usually only camping in gray zone or flying planes. This type of player should not be accommodated, their “desired gameplay style” makes the game worse, and discouraging it via score is a very soft and appropriate leverage.

Skill issue.

It’s bullshit spam.
Stop repeating the same post in countless threads.

With the 12000 points each day do you blame people? Playing everyday is one thing, but making us play for so long is ridiculous for some free rewards.

Sadly I must agree.,
What did they do to the Polsten AA?
High rof like mg, overheat, all ammo gone in a few bursts, a few hits but no kill.
Terrible.
