Suggestion: Adjust Weapons for Specialty classes and move carbines

Yeah, makes sense. As it’s a different SMG, could even give it less ammo too.

In normandy, MP43/1 (early STG-44), and all their SMGs.

In Russia, Kar 98k, SMGs.

Personally, as to how to deal with balance for Assaulters and troopers, it’d be by giving assaulters and troopers the ability to have both backpack and secondary weapon slots simultaneously. Assaulters would also be the only ones getting shotguns.

You might also perhaps limit what SMGs could be used by specialists to the likes of the M3, MP40, etc., lower rate of fire SMGs that are accurate at further ranges rather than the bullet hose variety.

I use both, though? I give my assaulters bolt action rifles with shotguns as their secondaries for my allied normandy setups, since I’ve found them more effective that way for the AI, in my personal experience.

I have not once thought about giving a bolt action as a secondary on an Assaulter. That’s a good call; although, I still prefer the flexibility in the backpack/ammo/grenades. It makes sense though and I guess the second weapon unlock isn’t completely bad.

I tried it back when you could have a secondary and a backpack at the same time (not that backpacks did everything but you know), but I found that just keeping an SMG was simpler and more effective.

And that was before shotguns were nerfed to hell.

I figure that assaulters on the point tend to die most rapidly, and due to the close ranges they’re actually going to be useful for, they’ll usually not be able to utilize the ability to come up from being downed with a medkit.

Ammo I basically never have a problem with, as most of the time my soldiers will die well before running out of ammo, and especially the AI doesn’t have an issue with.
For grenades, AI doesn’t use grenades, and I have other classes with backpacks to use grenades from that make more sense. Generally speaking I also don’t need more grenades than my squad on the whole has in general from the usual grenade slots.

As such, just giving my assaulters a Kar98k or M1903 just makes way more sense, as it means the AI can pick off people while pushing up to a point or I can fire back when trying to get out of a pinned down position, then quickly swap all my assaulters over to shotguns or SMGs when I get close to the point. A bit of micromanagement, but it’s served my needs rather well.

That totally makes sense on an Assaulter.

I just never thought about the bolt action for them and even though I’m constantly switching weapons as I switch guys, I just never fully realized they could use the bolt action rifle. I’m still a grenade whore , but can definitely see switching over to a bolt action for those long marches to an objective and the second weapon being useful for them.

I typically just use my Garande/LMG guys for that march… Grenades… I love me some Grenades. Explosive Pack, Grenade, Smoke one right after another.

The G33/40 has better performance than the M38 and M1907.
