Sound improvements suggestions and more thoughts

Hello there

first, i would like to thank you all, players & developpers, for making enlisted alive! really a great game!

one of my favorite thing in enlisted is the sound design, really impressive and immersive!

I bring some suggestions to make it better and more precise in my opinion, hope you gonna like it

  1. change some weapons gunshot sound ;
  • mas 36 and lebel rifle both used mosin nagant sound. as mosin’s have nothing to share with french guns, i suggest to
do new gunshot sounds for mas36, and for Lebel. ( I Love french guns!)
  • i was always wondering why kar 98 kriegsmodel use a different sound, why not using same sound for all kar98 variants and transfer
actual kar98 kriegsmodel sound to G98 for example? just an idea…
  • us17 and P14 actually share same sound, but when you think about it they didn’t use same caliber… maybe it would be more obvious to use lee enfield sound for P14 (what do you think?)
  • i found that some weapons sound really lacks of punch, especially compare to the rest of the enlisted arsenal … the ones i remember are for instance Toz B (URSS shotgun in moscow campaign)
and MG13 but i think there is one or two more (what do you think?)
  1. soldiers voices
  • to be clear : soldiers voices are great, for every country ! i was just wondering if that could be a nice addition to have new
voices added to the ones already existing, to have more variety on the battlefield. It’s just a bit annoying sometimes
to always hear same sentences over and over, especially when you play for long. And again, i dont suggest to totally change
voices lines ! they are just great ! it’s just to add some variety into it (but it means recording actors and stuff i suppose…)

3 - update some reload animation

  • wasn’t sure to talk about this aspect, as i’m sure dev will fix that soon, but there is still some incorrect reloading animations, especially for some bolt action rifles (reloading a full clip instead of a single bullet, for instance, you know what i mean…)

and to finnish i would like to share a thought. if i understand well, that maybe the campaign system will be remade, and replace
to a “country” system. Can’t wait to see that, but i just hope that it won’t result as every country weapons be usable in
all campaign, it won’t make any sense to have some late war prototypes weapons in early war campaign… (same for the vehicules by the way)

thanks for reading me, let’s discuss about it ! cheers

You have no right to stop others from proposing…
You are becoming a troll these days.

It is not up to you to decide what the developer will work on or what other players want to propose.
It is the developer’s job to review the proposal.

absolutely not.

don’t you dare to butcher my favorite KAR. it’s the only KAR 98 with a cool sound. don’t dislike the others, but … it’s kinda one of the few ( and only ) reason for most people when it comes to the kriegsmodell.

personally, i find it cool as it is different and in my opinion, better type of wood which accompanied by this sound, is top notch.

( the other reason, well, volkssturm for the win )

anyway, ““jokes”” aside, more or less, subjective opinions.
but, i do agree with the soldier Vcs. getting repetitive…

what is known, is that devs are planning on reworking some sounds and what not:

EDIT.

ah. hello fresh meat of the forum.

welcome to this place.

both sounds and AI aspects can be developped in the same time. one doesn’t substitute to the other for the dev i guess

AI is limited indeed. but its like that since the beginning, personnaly i learned to deal with it.

i don’t see enlisted as a squad game (better play with real player instead, like in post scriptum, squad, insuergency and many more) for me squad system in enlisted is like a easy and immersive way to respawn faster. but its off topic, i did not wanted to speak about AI here (and i’m sure dev are doing their best about it)

haha okay so why not copy kriegsmodel sound to other kar’s! i was just speaking about a sound representation that take the caliber aspect in count for instance (I don’t think the technical changes made to the kriegsmodel were significant enough to totally change the sound of the weapon. but i consent its maybe a minor thing. As a historical weapon’s passionnate i like the gun animations and sounds to be precise and conform more or less to reality) anyway mas 36 and tozb previously mentionned for instance are more disturbing for me

you do have a point.

but, i wouldn’t mind same weapons having different sounds. as it’s more of " remembering " process of what you deal / are up to against.

at least, for me.

eh… enlisted kinda sway in a different direction than being historical i’m afraid.

but i get what you mean.

yeah… the shotungs ( TOZ and M30 ) that have the same sound it’s a bit… odd, and in some occasions " bad ".

gotta see what they will do with the new major update coming in a few weeks / month

yes i have to admit Enlisted is not a real model of historical accuracy, you perfectly right. but in the same time, in more “historical” and realist game (like post scriptum) gameplay is far less fun for me… what i like in enlisted is the perfect mix between … “historical immersion” (i don’t know how to exprim that…) and entertainement. speaking of “historical accuracy” is not really adapted i consent.

but more dev will tend to historical aspects, more I will be happy ! in condition that it won’t break the fun and gameplay ofc (personnal opinion)

and i like the “what if” aspect too in enlisted, it really brings fresh air compare to other fps and even if i like the historical stuff as i said, for me it didnt break the immersion because the injection in the game is perfectly done(prototype weapons are really hard to unlocked, that could represent the fact that if such weapons were distributed in the front it would probably be in small quantities, not a full replacement of already existing).

if every players were using AS44, STG44, and more, this would totally brings me out of the game . they are in small quantity, like in a “what if” scenario that could have happened, and not too far from reality.

(i’m more questionning myself about whyyyy mas36 use a mosin nagant sound -7,5x54 and 7,62x54r… not the same- than why there is small quantity of prototype weapons on the battlefield but anyway, it’s a more general and personnal feedback about the game, totally off topic sorry )

Piece of advice for the original poster:
Make your title actually describe the topic, not just a generic title.

There are 1000+ sound improvement suggestions and probably a good 5000+ “my thoughts, more thoughts” suggestions.

Make the title more specific so if there are good ideas, they can be found later on too, not just for the “recently posted” tab.

Great post. And yes sound matters…

Something needs to be added to the op.

Some years ago there was a game called H&D2
(Hidden and dangerous)
On the very intro of the game you had a scene on a stairway with a granade being thrown down the stairs bouncing down and making this eccoing noise as it hits the floor here and there.

It’s the sound of the granades falling on the ground that I’d like to see added to the game .

Its literally a squad game so yes the AI is going to be a priority
