It will probably be added in the future, remember we are still in closed beta. Devs are constantly testing new mechanics and gamemodes. Our job, as their lab rats, is to complain if we like it or not or we spotted bugs and inaccuracy
Ok, right. Than I’ll do my job as good as I can.
PLEASE DEVS LIMIT PENETRATION MECHANIC!!!
(It’s overdramatized if you didn’t realise)
The issue I have is that it’s inconsistent.
Walls of buildings can be penetrated. But wooden fences cannot. Which is just frustrating.
I’m actually kind of shocked that people don’t like penetration. You gotta realise that even something like 9mm will go right through every internal wall of your house.
All wood used in houses is dead wood. It loses its flexibility which helps stop and “deflect” bullets. Plus it’s all very thin. Your average 115 grain 9mm Luger round will go through an inch of Plywood and still come out with a lethal velocity on the other side. Plywood when it comes to stopping bullets is better than any basic plank of any kind. Since plywood is really multiple layers of wood stuck together with alternating grains. It was used in ancient and medieval shields for its strength and ability to stop penetrating projectiles.
We start talking bigger projectiles and they’ll go through an entire hardwood house provided it doesn’t start tumbling. Some woods may also strip bullets down to their cores too however. Forget wood the soviet and German rifle rounds have no problem going through multiple inches of concrete. Concrete is actually pretty rubbish at stopping bullets. However against steel as little as 6mm of hardened steel can stop a rifle round hitting it at 90 degrees. Though I wouldn’t want to be hiding behind that with a machine gun firing at me it would only take a few seconds for the steel to be damaged enough for rounds to start going through. Quite a few “machine guns proof” vehicles added a whole extra millimetre to sit at 7mm of armour. Increase the thickness to a whole centimetre and you can get away with using much cheaper steel with less work required.
Things that are very good at stopping bullets are live trees. They’re are very springy and very dense. Which make trees better at stopping bullets than the dead wooden planks we get from them.
Play a game like Rising storm 2 where almost nothing is bullet proof. Even things you thought would be. You could be standing behind a brick wall but then someone with an M60 just sprays right through it. It really does change up the game when most objects are simply visual cover.
Personally however I think they should do one of two things. Either fully embrace penetration mechanics and have more or less accurate penetration behaviour for all rounds through objects. Or not have any bullet pen at all. Going halfway which is how it is now just makes the game frustrating and inconsistent.
I agree that bullets should go through wooden walls because it prevents snipers from camping 24/7 behind the same walls
