Currently, the SD.Kfz. 251 Halftrack is not available to the German factions tech tree, despite being one of the most iconic and widely used German armored personnel carriers of
WWII.
Germany produced over 15,000 Sd.Kfz. 251s during the war, and they were used extensively across virtually every major German front. The 251 became the standard German halftrack for transporting infantry alongside armored and mechanized formations, with numerous variants carrying everything from machineguns to mortars, anti-tank guns, and rocket launchers.
Germany should have access to this iconic APC in the tech tree. The Sd.Kfz. 251 was specifically designed to allow German mechanized infantry to keep pace with tanks and provide protected mobility on the battlefield. Its widespread use makes it a natural fit for the German factions tech tree.
Putting it in the German tech tree would properly reflect how common the vehicle was among German forces. It would also give German players a proper troop-carrying halftrack comparable to the Allied M3 Halftrack thatβs desired so much.
If the inclusion of an APC with a mounted machinegun in the tech tree is a balance concern, they could always make it an event APC, or add a version without the MG for the tech tree. There were also numerous Sd.Kfz. 251 variants that could be introduced separately.
In any case, the Sd.Kfz. 251 Halftrack, or another variant of it, should be available to the Germans.
