Well what is the point of reflect dmg when the HE does nothing anyway? What are you even punishing then?
Is it just there to protect someones immersion? But then it also is really immersion breaking to randomly die as a tanker because some ramdom fragment sniped a friendly 20 meter away from the explosion
(or up to 150m with the bigger bombs).
Also wouldnt this FF penalty desincentivise tankers from sticking to their own team as they might accidentaly gun down a friendly when trying to kill an enemy runner with TNT.
I personaly would hate having my own team next to me as they would only get in my way of defending myself and usually fail to kill a runner on their own.
So if your goal is for tanks to only do your own thing while farming the infantry spawns then good job, but dont expect tanks to actually want to support their own infantry if they risk triggering the penalty on accident.

Its written in the op. Its a counter weight to bigger and more sources of HE spam
yes but you canāt sustain the fire.
No but if its arty or a massive bomb, the damage is doneā¦so even if the player that did it died, say it was on the objective, it probably cleared it anway. Still sort of a shield
You are correct as far as H&G goes. What they can do is further spread what already exists. I am thinking of custom matches. Friendly fire is on, but after a slew of consistent team killing, it just kicks you. That is similar to H&G. And there wasnāt much team killing there if I remember things right. Other than the annoying ones.

Thats the thing about FFā¦players DO adjustā¦when it does happen in those games its generally an honest mistake and people accept itā¦

True. But, at the end of the day, Id say adding FF to this game would be a mixed bag. Enlisted players arenāt like H&G players. (Not enough good sports).
To the griefing concerns, those are quite valid. Could get out of control.
I wonder if they havent been groomed that way, with no penalties for anything
Are you refering to the Average Enlisted player that struggles to get 10-20 kills in a 25 minute match (probably couldnt team kill if they tried). Short of artillery, I bet its not them throwing about all the HE

Well we donāt need another issue to make rifle grenades completely unusable.
I mean how often are you firing that stuff at friendlysā¦all that stuff is something you do BEFORE anyone gets in the building/point to clear the wayā¦
makes no sense that it would be unusableā¦its just currently being misused (and suffered nerfs because of it)
Keep FF to Custom games. It has no place in normal Enlisted.

What is normal is always changing. Normal Enlisted ādidā have FF (and still does in a small capacity)
But as I said. you are welcome to your opinion
FF was removed because it didnāt fit within the parameters of the game.
I appreciate that it works within the custom game content, but it should not be reintroduced to the main āSquadā game.

thats what suggestions are forā¦to change/improve/evolve the normal parameters of the game, which have been getting more and more cramped for a long time.
Game modes have long needed tweaking/overhaul, Airspawn, CAS, Desertion, Respawns, Rallys, Overheat, player count, play area
Heres hoping that eventually a new game mode can be supported so Enlisted can spread out a bit more. (like how RB took off after Aracde in WT) Its getting pretty cramped.
To be fair, gamemodes arenāt related to FF.
I have no issue with custom matches having FF, but as I said, they were removed from the main game because it just didnāt work.
If the devs include a mode like BF or CoD, where FF is on, but itās pure deathmatch, then sure. But they need to introduce the map/game selection beforehand, because I know Iād become a filthy deserter if FF suddenly becomes a thing.
Iām way too trigger-happy for that shit to fly with me. Hence why I donāt play those games anymore.
FF effects how you play the game modes. Whats the first thing anyone does in invasion when they spawn? Immediently spam HE, arty and CAS (No spawn delay in pacific) into the objective to get the big kills while everyone is helpless and spawned on the point because they cant choose (I have abused this as much as anyone). Then continue to do so with friendlys on the point because they can.
This is effective because:
- the point is so small and most of the team spawns there with no real choice
- there is nothing to disuade you from doing it.
HE FF doesnt fix the first part which is to do with game mode needing overhaulā¦but it does fix the second part.
ā¦the suggestion was about HE friendly fireā¦doesnt effect your trigger happy as infantry
So the devs should reduce the effects of HE spam. Iāve wanted this for a long time.
And there in lies the grubā¦as with everything, if you dont have limits or downsides governing your use of powerful stuff in some formā¦you are going to end up nerfing everything to the point its not really cool or fun anymore. Theres a long list alreadyā¦it will continue to grow
