The man is responding that it is a bug, it was not available for everyone and he is 100% correct about his statement. He is speaking plain language and nothing else. Stop being demeaning to someone just because they dont have the same opinion. A 5 year old is trainable to understand that. Sod off.
It was a bug, there are literally card rewards in the game that give you the option that this bug gave you. There can be no clearer bug than that. If you agree or not or want the option or not is something completely different.
It does not matter, if it was a bug or feature. When you can select who comes back, you can develop your soldier from one star to five. You care what perks they have, what are their names and how they look.
After “fix” it is all replaced with a lottery, all soldiers are expendable, all new and futures customization features are dead.
So yes, please unfix the “bug”. For everybody, of course.

the main point of the thread, mostly because i haven’t played the recent updates.
can someone give me a recap?
Looks like, despite the academy being advertised as giving back 1 random soldier out of 3, for someone it used to ALWAYS give back the soldier in one specific slot in a predictable way, allowing to plan the upgrades without the need for training orders. Others did not have this feature.
Now apparently it’s actually random for everybody, and those who used to be able to pick their soldier every time think that NOW it’s bugged.
Academy for some people was bugged: 1st person placed in training always returned which made anti-lottery tickets pointless.
Now this was fixed.
Honestly, I agree with those who want this to be reintroduced for everyone. I don´t understand why it should be random (without special lottery tickets) in the first place.

than i guess i i’m one of those of the unlucky where my soldiers were and are basically dictated by rng.
if i have to be honest, i don’t know what to say, because it was mainly designed randomic. and therefore, shouldn’t be a thing.
but now that cosmetic orders and name tags are a thing, on the other hand if i don’t get that soldier it’s a waste of orders. than should be reintroducted.
we’ll see.

That is true, however, we have a lot of RNG in Enlisted anyway, and weapon upgrades were originaly designed on RNG too (bless you devs for removing upgrade chance… those were frustrating times).
Since we still have RNG in almost everything concerning logistics (be it silver or gambling orders), soldier names, and of course perks (and gambling points), getting rid of RNG in academy would be quality of life improvement while still keeping things grindy.

Indeed. You cannot care for soldiers if they have virtually no chance to reach level 5. May be it is by design, but then why to have all these nice models and options to change features and callsigns, all that.
Academy by itself with one out of 3 coming back is ridiculous enough, but when it is random, or pretty inconvenient with training orders and such - it is a sure way to stop us caring about soldiers and I fail to see how it will make the game better.

Did you finally get it? I already said it all in my thread here, but at the time I created that topic I was sure it is like that for everyone. Only later that day when more people said they had it differently than me (and as you can see many others), I realized that this “SILENT FIX” (because not mentioned in patch notes) was not for everybody, and many were unaware of existence of this bug, just like you apparently.
So maybe now you will stop calling what I said there a “false statement”.

i wasn’t aware of the issue where people could simply cheesy off and get a guaranteed soldiers.
that’s why i founded strange that people weren’t aware of the possibility of getting the lower % as traineed soldier.

Anyway I will adapt to (for me) new way of Academy, but it really should work like it was working while bugged, much less grind and you could pick whatever soldier you want from Star 1 up to 5. With how it is random (now for everybody) I would say we should be getting much more of these “Train orders”.
There is also this new “Soldier level up order” in Battle Pass, wonder how it will work, maybe that is a solution.
