Remove Planes

This I agree, yet I’m still against removing planes. Yesterday I had a two minute part where I was bombed, then artillery-killed while inside a building, then bombed again, without seeing a single opponent, and my only error was that I tried to get to the cap point.

So they very well succeeded in creating a game for mazochists, but I hope it’s not their final target. :slight_smile:

Yep, was in a funny mood.

But until they succeed in fixing planes (damage model, explosion calculation, rework how/how often they spawn etc) to our satisfaction, they could just make planes temporarily much more vulnerable, like 2 minor hits from AA or other plane and they’re gone. Three months ago maybe…?

Well, that’s kinda how some ww2 squad combats happened.

Gaijin has a terrible tradition of “overfixing” stuff by throwing it to the opposite extreme.

Their ever-trendy classic in War Thunder being:

Vehicle X: is currently very strong
Salty players: “Either nerf X, make it face stronger opponents, or increase its repair costs!”
Gaijin: “IDGAF, we balance vehicles according to Statistics™”.
Statistics™: confirm that X is currently very strong
Gaijin: proceeds to nerf X, make it face stronger opponents AND increase its repair costs all at once, successfully killing X for good to the point that nobody plays it anymore.

If they do it right the first time, what would they develop the next few years? :wink:

I have flown a lot in this game and what I can think of is they could do (take off-> landing-> loading-> take off … etc.). Airports that are, for example, 10 km away from the battlefield. Airplanes on many maps are not that scary … A good engineer can also handle an airplane well

10km away is a bit much, I’d prefer the Wilhelmstrasse treatment tbh

Issue is that it would consume too much time and drastically increase the suicide rates of planes.
The matches are (usually) not long enough for introducing such a feature.
Lets wait how they rework explosives (though I prefer fighter buffs).
Oh and the AA only works against Moscow planes, not for the planes in 1944 and 45.

Also this is a combined arms game, why is it so hard for people to understand that?.

It would certainly reduce the frequency of bombs dropping onto the battlefield. It would be nice if the element of replenishing planes at the airport as well as the take-off and landing procedure were introduced.
I did not play much in the scenario in Berlin, but the campaign from 41 and 44 was not a problem to destroy the planes from the ground.

guys i too hate planes in this game but for me they should remain…the only thing they need to fix is the damage (they are going to rework it look at the news) and they need to fix planes hitboxes…if they manage to fix these 2 thing plane will not be such a pain in the ass…im fairly good with AA and ive seen many people good at AA (AA that is shitty btw) and the only reason why planes still cause problem is that they are immortal

Removing planes would make this game completely unplayable. In most invassion style matches planes are the only tool to save the situation when team are full or lemmings, not building any rallies at all and not moving out to defend. Planes are needed for team carry purposes.

Actually i noticed protection from bombs is much better now as it were before, if player is lying in trench/using prone it helps a lot to survive.

Personally I play mostly infantry am against any significant nerf to either planes or tanks.
Someone bombs me I can get into a fighter or even a bomber with mg or canon and shoot the opponent down. I enjoy this sort of ballance in games, when things are sort of OP, but you can counter them and remove the advantage.

My only issue is people suicide bombing. It’s very immersion breaking.

But if you’re not paying and selected tank as your only vehicle, you can hardly jump into a plane. Unless it is part of the map. Otherwise I agree with you.

The biggest problem with planes is the people playing them; more often than not, people hop in a plane, bomb or rocket a location, crash on purpose, rinse and repeat as often as possible. If we actually had only ten respawns as the squad select screen says, then that would cut down on those numbskulls somewhat.

I know that which is why I think reducing the payloads would be more effective than AFs
