Atleast this suggestion is more balanced then those other suggestions where even topic starter says deto pack is only reliable at weapon but want limit it and after that they claim they dont want just buff their personal favorite playstyle…
Tbh I just don’t think tank HE should be touched. This is one of the few games where its scary.
I’m okay with limiting detpacks and their effectiveness against infantry so long as troopers still get something they can knock tanks out with effectively.
But I wasn’t awake enough nor did I feel like typing all this out lmao
HE on some tanks is already weak and shouldn’t be touched.
detpacks should be changed to satchel charges/AT grenades and limited with placing or throwing up to 2-3 meters max.
encountering a tank with noting to fight it is annoying, its stupid to limit tank busting to certain squads. and let the rest wipe until a squad moves in or you respawn.
Expand ammunition pool for anti-tank cannons, add more anti-tank cannons.
Move Detpacks to engineers (for destroying fortifications/tanktraps, not infantry massacring), give troopers bundle-grenades. (Heavier throw, lower throwing range, place under tank to destroy)
Give Bombers Anti-tank grenades. Buff the currently useless anti-tank rifles/launchers to a functional state.
Fix damagemodels.
Static Anti-tank emplacements on maps where available.
Bring more Anti-Tank diversity, the detpack is currently the jack-of-all-trades in everything
And the damagemodels make it possible for tanks to blow up by not throwing it under a tank, but just near its tracks, which is frankly kinda broken.
Lesson learned: They don’t want their toys touched, but it’s ok if they nerf infantry .
I saw someone saying that tanks can be countered by almost everything in this game and in his mind that wasn’t ok, but if we’re using that logic, then infantry can be countered by literally everything, which I assume is ok for him. Where’s the fairness in that?
Please don’t remove it. At least not until bigger issues like bombing, AI pathfinding and matchmaking/map selection are resolved, and then new weapon systems are introduced making it OK to “phase out” explosives. My opinion is to never touch a working system, and I don’t understand the many threads about it - what are the big problems with it apart from being unrealistic and used as all-purpose grenade instead of what originally intended?
It’s fun to use, easy to understand for newbies based on examples on field, needs some experience to master and to evade explosives with tanks. Yes it’s unrealistic but not more than AA cannon on second level of a wooden building, few seconds tank fixing, soldiers popping out of radio boxes, 8 or 2 seconds required to recover from a body shot almost killing you, airborne refilling etc. So it’s just as arcade as other parts of the game, and more fun than artillery, mortar or being victim of bombardment.
This. Its hard to figure anything else that would be better balanced than current infantry - tank combat.
Tanks are absolute killing machines and has huge impact on the outcome of the game. Yet you cant use them like a terminator just driving to middle of map and destroy everything 360.
This is probably only thing that needs to be addressed, reduce the effectiveness against infantry and its completely fine.
But if we remove TNT we can also remove tanks ability to totally destroy infantry and game remains balanced at inf vs tanks. Then we can add more powerful tanks!
Can you imagine how fun it can be? 4 tanker trading blows after blows… meanwhile infantry fight in cap zones
A lot of threads to something can be a sign of a problem.
But it can be simply spam.
It can be a sign of a lound minority that just want to have their stuff to be done.
Removal of he is just necessary thing after nerf to infantry at weapons. Ofcourse i talk more how to balance game after removal of tnt cause there isnt much more to talk about removal/nerf of deto pack or is there?
Just like if devs remove… lets say soviet semiauto rifles then also germany ones must go in campaings where both factions are present
You really think players would start using only full trooper squads equipped with detpacks, instead of using better squads with, say, LMG’s? Sacrifice all that for a slightly better grenade? I think you are obviously wrong.
Good players can mow down full squads with SVT just as easy as AVS. And with the Madsen even easier, and unlocked earlier. It’s not the point. Troopers are currently the weakest class, and they would still be the weakest if they were the only ones with detonation packs. Giving them exclusivity on detpacks would give them a specific purpose as “all-rounders” (without being “the best” at anything) which I think is appropriate for them.
