Game balancing is a complex struggle. For example, sometimes when using say a 30mm gun with HE I can practically shoot right next to an enemy and I get no hits. I obviously know that an HE shot out of a 70mm is more powerful than one shot from a 30mm, but you mean to tell me that a 30mm is basically worthless? Either that truly is the case or it’s just dev fuckery behind the scenes for balance.
I can tell you in real life you certainly wouldn’t want to get hit in the face with one regardless
My point is an HE shot out of anything should at the very least be a little effective
Even on the promotional picture, its shown screening ahead of the main column, like a reconnaissance vehicle, admitting that its not meant for actual front line combat like tanks.
You have to look at it like this. Obviously in real life all these various vehicle types were used in different units and specific roles, but we only have 10 players with at best 2 ground vehicles and 2 planes. Rider and APC are infantry classes. Sure they can ride around on a vehicle but their primary job is just to hop off and fight on foot.
For simplification all the various combat vehicles are grouped together whether you’re a light tank, heavy tank, anti-air, self propelled gun, etc. Vehicles whose job is to support infantry however they can. For better or worse. Whether you’re a Panzer 2 or Tiger 2.
My dream is if this game was larger and we could have 10 vehicles per team.
I know the pzb 41 isn’t 30mm, I was just making a point.
In this game they make it seem like even a little 30mm landing right at your feet does nothing. I’m saying that this pzb41 with a frag round must at least be able to do something.
Even then, I’ll just have to shoot them with what I got or if I have to run them over like you said
very nice addition for low tier. early war tech and perfect BR I
But please sometime soon, separate our vehicles in different roles and lockouts. atleast like this, Armored Cars+Light Tanks Medium+Heavy Tanks SPGs +SPAAs
puttin all together and treating them as tanks and rating them as such is bad game design in more than 1 way.
this one is a weird choiche to say the least… not even the basic Heavy Tank M6 , In someplace BR III, that would be a nice addition, mid war mid BR Tech, when US was trying out different things, could have been selected for use… but M26A2E1 late war experimental that honestly was never was gonna be selected for combat use, chassis already way outdated and other platforms much better and modern already slected and in use… it’s a weird vehicle to add… and especially since we already have US Top of the line M26 Tanks for their high BR in the game… so why this one idk… there could’ve been better choices…
and finally the Churchill with the Camo net… here’s a hot take: what if like instead o it being a separate camo… Customization got redone and Camo net was added as a ‘‘addon’’ to vehicles we already have, same as sandbags, logs, dozer blades… instead of being just another Camo… would make more sense…
becasue to be fair, vehicle customization in War Thunder sucks (the infantry too though). because the customization is weird, allows for pure clown customization, and we lack alot of decals, insignias crosses and such, logs, beds, concrete, applique armore etc and to top it off it’s RIDICULOUSLY expensive…
I would much more like to see a customization where decals and national insignias and division markings and such were predetermined in historical accurate places, would simplify and give better immersion…
anyway nice events with quite some nice rewards
It could’ve been better themed though… You know all rewards based on D-Day…
A fragmentation round from the Pzb 41 will do essentially nothing if it doesn’t hit someone directly. 5 grams of explosives is nothing and will do nothing. The vehicle has no infantry support capabilities, understandably because that’s the last thing it’s designed for, and thus isn’t a good choice to be included in the combined arms game where tanks mainly do infantry support.
But it is. It may not support infantry with HE but it is effectively a light tank destroyer. Fighting tanks is the other end of the support spectrum
You may criticize it’s capabilities but that is basically it’s role. So on the tank spectrum at the low end you have a Panzer 2 and on the high end a Tiger 2, on the tank destroyer spectrum you have the Panzerjager 1 and this and on the high end you have the Jagdtiger
Well that’s because Rider is an infantry class whose primary job is to dismount. That’s why they can equip AT, Engineers, MG, etc. The bike is just for flavor. Motorcycle troops were basically dragoons.
This vehicle is meant to support infantry as best it can. We don’t have to argue about it’s capabilities because we all know it’s weaknesses, but it is what it is.
Ooooh, the squeeze boy, that looks interesting. That thing gives me hope for the 222 to appear someday. The Mutant is here, one of the few things that can see Tiger B eye to eye when it comes to their height. Also more MKb 42s are always welcome to the assault engi sq
Nice to finally see an event with rewards worth grinding… heavy tank for US, bolt action semi auto hybrid in 2 and MKB 42m which is better than STG in most cases.
And while i will never play it a scout car for BR1 sounds cool for those who enjoy it… yet such an obscure choice.
Disappointed that there is no seperate squads for the tanks though… and the asymmetrical rewards for nations… but i can tell it’s made up for with the mkb 42m.
And especially that there is no soviet rewards… sick of spam for them.
Brother, this sheit is terrible, no MG against infantry, it only has a 20 mm cannon with APCR and no explosive filler, might as well play infantry with a BR 1 smg
Although Its good against light tanks but really terrible against infantry damn
It wouldve been nice if this is what we will receiving, oh well, lets wait and see for another month again
This is 100% much better, 10 auto rounds with the same 20 mm and has 3 crews in it, oh well no use on crying about it, let just hope that thered be more armored cars coming
