Rally Selection Screen UI Upgrade!

Here are some screen shots of various games and you see the complete nightmare it is to select a rally for your squad.

Please. Please. Please. Rework this complete screen.

Suggestions on how to rework it.

  1. Make a listbox type display on the edge that stacks all the rallys up with some micro stats associated with each rally. So you can Easily select the rally based on micro stats…

  2. Build a button to auto Spawn on the highest voted Rally… As you are playing you can +1 a rally or something to make it more “prominenant”… But only commanders / ranked players could add highlight to a rally.

It is impossible to select a rally when they are squished together. This needs to be reworked. Please put it on the table for design.

And PLEASE while you are at it. FIX the chat in the background that you Cannot see while you are waiting for your players to spawn.

Am I the only one that has this issue? Perhaps I am pressing the wrong button to “Highlight” the right rally

Look, while I am one that thinks that mainly the merging of close by rally points is sub optimal and wants a new UI for that I think your issue is related to being a mod, on regular maps that aren’t as crunched togheter as whatever this mod is you don’t usually have that issue.

I still think that being able to combine rally points for added effects like in this other suggestion is the most optimal way to go about it.

In this game mode, in order to avoid this problem I have set the group interval of spawn points to 60 meters.

The distance of the camera is necessary because the map size must have a far camera, allowing the player to select all locations.

And a possibly easy way to deal with this is to always put player-built spawns placed on the top layer of the ui.

yes. the camera distance of course by nature of how the UI is coded will jamm it all together. Ideally some code to determine the boundries and push things around with “never squishing”

Yes a mod issue, but really not a Mod issue, all mods should use the framework in place and the framework should allow any mod possibity. wtfdik … it is a coding issue. UI design. With a secondard list of rallys on the edge would solve such issues forever. Perhaps even the sublist would be sorted based on Times used or other micro stats that would also realtime…

It is the 2D boundry boxs that are trying to detect the mouse click events… so the very last drawn rally will be ontop so that will be the only one that is selectable… Nightmare.

yeah,to combine rally points is a really good solution. And then let the system randomily spit you out on any one of the rallys… I could see it being good and bad…

** blown away by anti-personal mines being able to be placed on rallys **

why shouldn’t mines be able to be used on rallies?
It only kills one squad and breaks the rally.

Honestly I prefer this over the ones that find the rally point then proceed to sit just outside of its radius and kill the fresh spawns with a SMG or MG, and let it keep spawning.

Super cheap to kill a incoming sqaud that has no chance… I don’t see that as “Good Gaming” but that is my opinion.

I think anti-personal mines should display a message to the losers that try to put them on a rally ingame.

Just think of seeing a little popup when you try to do this that says. “What the fuck are you doing loser”

Waiting outside a rally for spawns is also a form of cheapness, but that is the nature of it.

Maybe I’m biased because I use them.

For me, using the AP mine on the rally point is less of a “troll/ easy kill” move and more of one for tactical purposes.

  • IF you destroy it outright, they put another one up sooner.
  • IF you destroy it outright, they know you are in the area, giving you less time to find more rally points.
  • However, by placing the mine there it gives you more time to do what you need to in that area before they realize you are there.

Additionally there is kind of a psychological effect that mines can play on players. If there are kills in the feed from AP mines, people start being a little more cautious about where they are walking.

If it starts popping up frequently or in bulk, some players tend to slow way down.

When you die from it on a spawn point, you are a little more hesitant when using certain rally points in that area.

Its a strategic decision for me, not just “easy kills”.
