Premium squads right now suffer from 3 massive drawbacks which result in no real reason to buy them, especially in the later levels:
- They have less people in them than their free counterparts. This makes them a lot less versatile and survivable than the normal squads.
- The soldiers in the premiums squads are static, you can’t switch them out, you can’t acquire more of them and they’re locked to level 4 when the max is 5. They’re automatically inferior to normal soldiers with the only benefit being their inherent perk.
- The weapons are also static. Even if the weapons are interesting or good why bother if any other squad is just better and works well enough with normal weapons?
I get that this is a free to play game and the premium content can’t be overpowered to avoid the inevitable pay to win allegations. But making them underpowered just makes it so that people who love the game and who WANT to buy the premium squads just have no reason to.
Here’re my solutions to the 3 problems:
- Just give the premium squads the same squad upgrades as their normal counterparts, simply let the players choose which squad composition they prefer.
- Either:
2.1. Make the soldiers unique but with the ability to switch them out with normal ones and have them be able to take the place of normal ones in the other squads.
or:
2.2. Add the soldier type to the logistics section, either as a rare bronze drop or as a normal soldier type. With the ability to switch them out with normal ones and have them be able to take the place of normal ones in the other squads. - Either:
3.1. Make the weapons unique, as in the weapons the soldiers come with are the only ones you can get, but with the ability to switch them out with normal ones and have them be able to take the place of normal ones in the other squads.
or:
3.2. Add the weapons type to the logistics section, either as a rare bronze drop or as a normal weapon. With the ability to switch them out with normal ones and have them be able to take the place of normal ones in the other squads.
These are just my suggestions but I think people will be more inclined to buy the premium content if these, or similar, solutions were implemented.
