Pre-order: "Fight Fire with Fire" flametrooper squads

Hahaha, you should check out the T58 and Terminator-72 over in War Thunder.
It’s been months and it’s still pay-to-win over there.

And we’ve got premium paratroopers and premium flamethrowers too, right?
It’s just an old tradition at this point.
Can’t really complain when it comes to online games—they’ll just nerf it a few times later to “rebalance” anyway.

I wouldn’t call this p2w. Kiraly is better than kp-31 and flamethrowers are no longer that good

Correct, the engineer has the suomi

Officially known as “Long Range Penetration Groups”, they were jungle warfare specialists of the Commonwealth armies, specifically the Indian and British armies.

As a response to the Japanese brazenness in the usage of jungle terrain, efforts were made to adapt to this new form of warfare (similar to the Ardennes in France, the British assumed that the Japanese would not attack through jungles to get to Singapore, as it was thought that no modern army could effectively traverse such a terrain and remain in fighting condition. Naturally, the Japanese did not agree with this assesment).

With lessons learned, (at the time) Brigadier Orde Wingate (fresh from East Africa) got permission to form the initial units of Chindits in mid 1942, and their numbers steadily increased over the course of the war (peaking at 20k soldiers in 1944). Their main task was deep penetration operations within jungle environments, as well as training regular forces in jungle warfare.

For all intents an purposes, they were very efficient at their tasks. However, by early 1945, much of the fighting force was depleted, many of whom due to decease (inescapable in jungle enviorments). Those still capable of fighting were reformed and redistributed into other units as the Chindits were being disbanded, but the lessons learned by them would stay around for far longer.

Indeed, many consider the British to still be the best jungle fighters in the world, as the tradition is being kept alive by the modern commandos of the British Armed Forces.

Acting Major-General Orde Wingate himself died in a plane crash on the 24th of March 1944, when a USAAF B-25 crashed, taking all souls on board with it.

Is it possible to see the stats? Would be appreciated

Wait, isn’t SMG with flamethrower too OP, you might ask?
Its not because you won’t be able to take big ammo pouch due to the fuel tank.

Br 5

Hahaha, I’d say this pre-order squad looks like two options, but there’s really only one worth getting. Just look at Germany’s flamethrower squad.

They even remade the helmet model—it’s a really cool helmet. And the Suomi is just as strong as ever. The key point is it’s BR4, unlike the old Suomi premium squad. The flamethrower is basically just a bonus.

I’m sure when this comes out, Germany’s gonna be completely winning. This squad has insane potential.

Now look at the Soviet side: a basic BR1 rifle plus a flamethrower with terrible range.
In my opinion, the only logical place for this Soviet flamethrower squad is Moscow—before BR lineups were merged, no matter the BR.

The problem is, right now, flamethrowers just aren’t strong. The mechanic got butchered so hard it’s basically garbage.
Compared to other online games, if you want this to sell, at least make it good and fun to use. Buff the mechanic back a little so the squad actually feels strong.

I’m even anxious for DF. The updates are so slow, and that’s probably why they’re not making much money.

When you strip this pre-order pack down, the real star is obvious:
the BR4 Suomi SMG.

Once the packs go live, the Soviet Mosin-Nagant flamethrower is gonna be totally underwhelming and end up forgotten.

Come on—Italy already has a BR2 flamethrower paratrooper squad!
I just don’t get why the good stuff always goes to the other side in every pre-order.

So I’m gonna wait until this pre-order ends, then wait another six months for a sale, and only buy the German flamethrower squad.
It looks way cooler. So much cooler :sunglasses:.

OMG, this is great! Awesome news! It’s even stronger now.
But have you considered putting the Mosin-Nagant flamethrower itself at BR2?
I think Soviet players would actually pay for that.

The base flamethrower in tt is br 3

For clarity:

This new premium squad (the Suomi) is not BR 4.

In this pre-order BRs are (as of the time of writing):

Mosin M91 with flamethrower (Premium, BR III)
Extra gun: AVT-40 20 (Normal, BR V)
Hence, squad arrives at BR V initially when you purchase it, but can remove the AVT should you please to make it a BR III or IV squad (depending on the extra weapon you attach).

Suomi KP/-31 with flamethrower (Premium, BR V)
Extra gun: FG 42 (Normal, BR V)
Hence, squad arrives at BR V initially when you purchase it, but can remove the FG 42 if you please. The squad stays at BR V.

The “Tier” of the Suomi squad is in fact 4, and this is what is stated on the store page. Store pages quote Tier, and not BR, and has done so for all previous premium squads. Tier is different to BR.

UPDATE:
The squad is now in Tier V. This has been reflected in the store page, and is also made clear in the store description next to the name of the squad. So, now it’s both Tier V and BR V.

Ok cool! Does the mosin have same stats as a br 4 or br 3 flamethrower? Same with kp-31

I don’t understand why like the other Suomi squad it is not Finnish, anyway, interesting squads over all

It is BR V, not IV. Same as the Suomi KP/-31.

The “4” in the Gaijin store that might confuse people at first glance is the Tier (you can even see the Tier in the filter there), which matters only for Research. BR was never shown in the store as BR can be changed because balancing reasons, while the Tier is fixed.

EDIT: So there was actually an error in the store, the squad was marked as Tier 4 instead of Tier 5 … so it’s Tier 5 and planned to be BR V.

Since this pre-order pack is all about flamethrower squads, why not buff their stats or mechanics to make them sell better?

Can you make the flamethrower’s fire burn grass and trees?
Can you roll back the flame width and mobility to how they were before that October 2023 update? It’s been so long—you know how bad flamethrowers are now.

Flamethrower guys can’t see anyone when they’re firing, but anyone hit by fire can just shoot back and kill them instantly. It’s a 1-for-1 trade death loop every time.

When you want to sell this stuff for good money, do you ever think about whether anyone actually uses flamethrowers?
