If it’s just progression unlock, it’s no big deal… because Soviets effectively have nothing in between ppd34 and pps42. Their other smgs are better…
Axis simply has more low end smg variety.
If the battle rating of pps42 is on par or near axis mp40,it’ll be fine.

Is it really a good thing to unlock good smgs faster, while all the rest takes time? Isn’t that rather a handicap?
If the Soviet player unlocks the pps42, starts using it and as a results gets axis enemies using mp40 or similar BR things that took longer to grind, true… but also grinded all the other tools? It will be a big disadvantage for the Soviet player to play too high BR too fast, without taking the time to unlock the other things like good vehicles, good anti tank, semi autos maybe? TNT… etc.
Big disadvantage? I don’t remember the MP40 can beat PPSs, you forget the soviet has not just good SMGs in this game
thats why I suggested lend-lease SMGs for the Soviets, weapons like the Sten or Reising were used by the Red Army and would extend the tree a bit.
Germany doesn’t need a counterpart for the slav SMGs though

MP40 is a decent SMG, MP38 is way better, the MAB 38A is good except it cost the same as a StG 44, and 40rnd vs 71rnd with almost half the fire rate? I don’t think there is competition here
You want a good counter against PPSH 41 and any other Soviet 71rnd Drum SMG?
Conders is the best german SMG, like hands down, except it cost a gold order
MP717r is weaker than PPSH 41, but still the best unlockable SMG you can get for the german
Kilary 39M is very nice except the recoil it just doesn’t feel like a SMG this cost 3 silvers like the MAB 38A
PPD 34/38 71rnd doesn’t cost 3 silvers, in Post merge it goes lower BR/Tier than other soviet SMG with Drum, and still beats both MP40 and MAB 38A by far

I understand the ideal of balance. I get it. But I’m the kind of player who just enjoys the sandbox. Every weapon has its strengths and weaknesses. For example, if I’m using the Suomi it’s not because “I must counter those dastardly PPSh!”, it’s because I felt like using it. I’ll gladly play a match with MP 28s and MP 40s against PPDs and PPSh.
Also the Federov should be regulated to only early war Soviet campaigns, however the issue is Gold Order weapons are also all over the place with WW1 guns, interwar prototypes, etc. On one hand it’s cool to see an antiquated gun that saw a little service just before the war, but then on the other hand I don’t know about seeing an entire army of Federovs in the streets of Berlin in 1945
Which is why BR, tiers, historical accuracy, sandbox are a very difficult mixture to balance. It’s all very turbulent indeed

You just have to shoot them if desynch isn’t fucking your ass
I mean if you and your bots can use the MP40 and MAB 38A as effective as the enemy with PPSH 41s and Fedorovs, then yeah no issue except that’s not happening, I give my bots with MP717r and see them mow down enemies better than any other SMGs and you wonder why? And I can mow down 2 full squad before a reload with it and still have ammo for a 3rd and you wonder why?
People need to try the weapon themselves before complaining about it. Period.
I maxed $talingrad for both side, reach High level Moscow Ally and Maxed Berlin Axis and half way to Berlin Ally… and currently grindng Normandy Ally
Like I said I play the game since Burning Sky… and I am F2P for most of the game(except $talingrad for obvious reason)
And yes my Winrate is higher in Soviet side, specially in Moscow, so you get and idea why I am posting this…
