I remember some people talking in the past about giving Japan some bamboo Spears so give us this instead of that.
Both can be added. As long as it doesn’t deplete the developers of development resources for 4 years in advance. Which is quite possible.

Were spears even used? I remember hearing they were intended for a potential defence of the home island and since that didn’t happen they were never issued.
It’s like saying that foxholes somewhere in the jungle/forest were never issued.

There are documents that prove that 4,500 Japanese used bamboo spears in New Guinea, I think it could be an event melee weapon

So it’s nothing like saying “did they dig fox holes”, let’s not compare apples to oranges.
If we look at the video you can see this is a last ditch weapon and at least it’s not made of bamboo
