I think damage wise pistols are fine as they are. My issue is that there really aren’t many situations where they are actually useful.
What I would like to see with them is the ability to pull out your pistol and use it when DOWNED. Otherwise your only option is to attempt to heal with no way to defend yourself, OR drop a grenade and kill yourself anyways.
Being able to pull out a sidearm and fend off enemies while trying to get to cover to heal would be very useful. In addition, it may make the “more likely to be downed and longer bleed out timer” perk more viable.

Yep - all my “good” pistols come from the days when they were random additions to purchases of other weapons’ - haven’t bought one since the change.
