Yeah fair enough, but in Normandy I used the event paratrooper squad as assaulters since they can get 3 Lanchester smgs from box.
Very helpful when all you have unlocked are grease gun and shotty for actual assaulters.
So he does have a point but if we could put any equipment in the paratrooper box that would create even worse balance between new and old players.
I support the idea of Paratrooper Box’s being customizable. While in the future as a pipe dream maybe they would be overhauled like regular squads where we can choose their exact loadouts or have them drop armless and have to grab their weapons from the crate, like in real life. Maybe the Box could have a “weight” or “firepower” system, where say we can only choose say a Machine Gun or Flamethrower but the rest of the squad will have rifles

Simply yes. The newer players will be at a disadvantage, they will need to spend some time leveling up their other squads before they can have full versatility with Paratroopers.
Which is the tradeoff considering that paratroopers are a jack of all trades class.
It keeps them from being too powerful right out the gate.
As far as the buff for when you get to higher levels, it rewards players for upgrading those other classes!
Post-merge, it keeps the squad up to date accordingly to what else their squads are up to.
The thing is, the weapons that are currently on the paratroopers have considerably more ammo than the standard counterparts, which added to their ability to drop in anywhere can cause balance issues.
With the suggested change, they would be put back to the standard ammo count, but also able to have their preferred gear.
Lastly, it gives a solid reason to then remove the construction hammer, which is probably the most debated part of the paratroopers kit. By allowing the ability to equip higher grade gear, it could make up for the loss of that ability from them.

Some kind of weight system is needed if they will implement customization. And yes, I want it too.
