Nope?!
Someone’s mad to flag all those posts, LMAO!
Any worthwhile feedback outside of no?
Like most player build defenses Barbwire currently is at most an irritation for attacker.
If the problem is trolling or bad placement inside your own team, you can still leave current way of dismantling with J for friendlies only and have attackers use explosives, introduce wire cutters etc.
Or make different tiers of BW with different utility, strength, area covered including vertically, cost, limit on how many can you place, different ways of overcoming it as an attacker. Player defenses atm are as deep as a puddle.
Not remove it entirely but make it take longer
You still try to push this, mate?
Heh.
For those wanting context, our (mine and OP) lengthy discussion can be found here:
Right? Its a valid suggestion, but it seems odd to me that instead of debating the topic, which is what the forum is designed for, people would rather just spam the same response.
Yes I am, because I truly believe it could make for a turning point in their game development that brings a lot more strategic players into the game rather than catering only to run-and-gun, like COD did.
Already shotted down, but I see, you are not happy withaut another stupid debating
Just because a handful of trolls spammed “No” on it, doesn’t mean that the idea was shot down.
I think we need to create a custom match, filled with engineer users on both sides, and test out the current limits and opportunities that engineers offer.
Simply put, what engineers offer now, is simply underutilized. And this… would be a step into the unknown.
Few really want an Imperial Fists and Iron Warriors dukeout…
Go to see your last attempt
Honestly, my HOPE is that they will at least do an event with it, to test it out. All the people replying “no” are only considering it from their one side, which would inconvenience them as assaulter/attackers. It needs to be tested before judgement can be passed.
Just, we need to test the limits of engineers we currently have now.
What we need to find out - how would battlefield pacing look like if both teams, all the players, used pretty much only engineer squads and activelly building plenty of fortifications (or digging trenches, at least).
For that test however, you need to test not only the ENGINEERS capabilities, but also the capabilities of the attackers against the fortifications. Especially with the addition of so much smoke capabilities coming in with “High Caliber” as well, enemies pushing up close will be even easier than ever. If any character is allowed to break down fortifications as it is now, engineer fortifications will be 100% worthless.
Once you’ve tested that, I suggest a game that everyone tries the system I suggested. No deconstruction allowed, only TNT and explosive pack options for infantry.
Expanding on that, I think we need a confrontation or conquest mode, where both sides can put their defensive capabilities to use, and see how it goes.
My hypothesis is that it would basically turn into a camp-fest, at least in current terms, but if You… or We, can gather a crew of (m… well, I better avoid some words) certified engineer users filling both teams (not sure if lone warriors or squads, I think LWs mode might be better in some cases, at least reduce the number of A.I. otherwise), who take passion in building fortress, I suppose this can be an interesting bit of testing what engineers truly can do.
It would also be a good idea to have the squad compositions of all the participants before going to battle posted.
I however can’t take part in such a test now personally, I am not near my main gaming PC, but I give a call in discord.
I’m not opposed to the confrontation map, but I think Invasion rather than conquest mode is needed. Conquest is disorganized by nature, and usually doesn’t have much engineering going on anyways. Meanwhile, Invasion mode is the most played mode there is. It just requires playing 2 games rather than 1.
I’m on console, and this is kind of a tricky slope, as most of the people I play with refuse to play against PC, and understandably so, we’ve had plenty of questionable situations. That being said, if we could get an even balance of console and PC players, we’d be in business.
I like to build defenses and I hate it when I hear that deconstruction sound, but I don’t want to see that ability dissappear. I think it can be a vital ability at times.
I do think it should be a little tougher to do, like not allow you to deconstruct while hiding behind cover with no line of sight to the construction
Ok here is the deal besides I wrote “Nope” and got flagged:
To take engineers in your squads is volunteerly not an obligation. To give engineers the only option to cut barbed wires would mean that entire entrances would be cut off. I am not talking about players which could jump over and take some damage but moreover the current bot programming. The path is blocked? They search a new entrance although that means that they run into MG fire but yet for the AI it’s considered as the safer option in memento as they don’t get damaged by the barbed wire.
Besides that I must point out that some campaigns (Tunisia) gives you access to your vital suggestion relatively late. That would mean that newcomers to certain campaigns would be left behind.
Furthermore, as a daily player, i would like to point out that the destruction of structures without playing as an engineer, in a fast paced game like that, takes already enough time to lose my bots while they seem to look elsewhere while Iam trying to get safe access to the cap.
As for the TNT suggestion. You can’t force people to use the pack. That would put the other options into the shadow for a vital necessarity in the game.
Your solution would require:
- Engineers squads being a default squad
- Engineers in all squads destroy or cut enemy structures by default
- Bots would jump over it instead of searching a new path
- Give an quick chat order to demand engineers for help
And we all know that that won’t happen.
Therefore I stick to my and my comrades answers:
NO
Well said.
That partially was my reasoning in the earlier discusion. Hence You get a like from me.
Me and OP are planning to test the current capabilities of engineers in custom matches, to see if, perhaps, some merit can be found…
