I die pretty often when an objective is changing because I don’t realize the frontline I’m fighting on is about to be in a new grey zone. I realize the map occasionally flashes when a new grey zone is about to appear but I don’t always notice it when I’m holding ground and in constant combat, especially since on a lot of maps the frontline moves within meters of the objective.
Some type of more center screen warning, sound, timer, etc of when a new grey zone will be established at your location would be really nice because once the zone does appear, it’s a death sentence. Plus I need as much time as possible to maneuver these tanks out of lost ground.
Aaaah yes, the ‘can’t-do-anthing-because-I’m-behind-the-enemy-lines’ issue.
I love it tho, especially for the rats that like to camp with their Cats and fake-ass T-34 in gray zone. You like to be safe and untouchable and feel? Great! As many other people in their rooms, but you won’t be able to shoot or do anything at all.
But no, instead of solving this issue they realease a new kind of soldier and then tell you: deal with it with these guys.
It was about Insurgency, that I love that system, but I’d also add the option for the rats that love to camp with tanks and/or cannons, snipers, etc… Not letting them shoot or attack the enemy, forcing them to go to a place where they can be attacked or killed.
They’re not in their own grey zone though, they’re in your grey zone. Unless you’ve memorized the maps, you can’t even tell if you’re in the enemies grey zone.
The solution to that problem is better map design and grey zone placement. Maybe if people made more noise about fixing the maps instead, the devs would put more effort into it
Do you know how it would be solved?, with a timer that is in the upper center of the screen that says “MOVE YOUR ASS TO THE NEXT POINT” (sorry for the bad joke) but now seriously, a different timer that indicates that you must Moving to the next point would be ideal so that even the most clueless could see it
Oooh I like the creep idea, similar to battle royale games. I think that would make WAY more sense. A time/alert of when the zone is closing would still be nice along with it. There could also be like a dashed line on the map screen showing where the zone will stop as well so you know when you’re in a safe spot.
Here is an example of what I mean. You can see from my field of view highlight that the tank I’m in which is sitting in the courtyard right in front of the objective suddenly became out of bounds. And there’s no way in these streets to turn a tank around in 5 seconds and get safe so I blew up.
I didn’t even think to look at my map to see if I was out of bounds because I was playing the objective and holding a defensive position. But had I been notified I could have backed up the 10 meters I needed to.
Maybe another idea for newly popped up grey zones is if your opponent is in your grey zone, they just become marked on the map and HUD until they leave. This is similar to what Battlefield does in similar game modes when players must retreat. It’s also similar to what Rainbow 6 Siege does when players run outside of the buildings towards player spawns. This would also give the option to let players attack rally points placed at the edge of a grey zone which effectively permanently moves the spawn next to the objective since right now you can’t get in there and destroy them.
