Its not necessary, but highly recommended.
The most historically accurate and immersive WW2 game i have ever played. Takes some time getting use to the slower pace tho

Playerbase problem where bad players play Soviet while the veterans are flocking on Germany because the King Tiger came out. Same thing happens on other campaign when a new iconic weapon or vehicle comes out on a faction e.g. Thompson with drum mag in Tunisia, MP43 in Normandy back when it was first added, the whole thing in Stalingrad for Axis with captured PPSh + Mkb.
This is why I don’t care when I spam full auto and tanks myself like no reason to handicap. Also experience during summer months where teams are much worse across the board.
Lets be honest – moslty allies last-level players in Tunisia is just braindeads, who can’t fight even with single axis veteran.
Drum Thompson aint helping them that much
