Map aim is not good.
I want to be sneaking on front line, set up observation point, and adjust motor.
Of course, motor will be on the behind the front line in such a situation. But if killed me(on front line), my team will be unable to adjust motor, so continue shot same point. enemy will escape.
In order not to let camping cap zones, it is may be good that reset motor direction at such situation.

Well the mortars got nerfed according to some of the suggestions of this thread. Now the concern is that no one exactly knows what a 50-200m looks exactly like, and since there is no more trajectory marker, you can’t judge rounds landing unless you have a clear line of sight. They should probably add in the minimap some form of range bar estimate or have some form of capability to range find. Otherwise doubt mortars are gonna find much usage
You got a range marker to the capture zone, making the weapon useless to aim at anything else. Although I feel like I was consistently overshooting my target under 75m even when i set the range right to where the game tells me to put it based on the distance to the point. The mortar also feels less accurate than how it was when you could map aim. You can put map markers on the map, i think you should be able to read distance off those markers, as placing them takes a while.
We dont want to buff mortars too much though as they still have little to no counterplay

bf series is completely different and should be never referenced, just like arma
Well they were a niche weapon, sure, but they have little to no counterplay options, which makes them extremely hard to balance. I think I prefer them useless over overpowered.
As of update 0.1.8.13 These changes have been made to mortars:
- Mortar accuracy has been increased.
- Mortar max range has been increased.
- Mortar trajectory is no longer visible.
- When shooting a mortar you can now aim by adjusting the targeting distance and controlling the direction through conventional minimap. The special mortar map with a targeting marker has been removed.

i’m a nub, please tell me how to hit, at least aim on, a target thats not on a flag
I also feel like the accuracy has in fact been decreased.
I myself use triangulation using my own position, the distance to a point, and the angle between the point and the point I am aiming at to get myself a rough estimation of range on other area’s. But then again, due to the long drop time, it’s kinda difficult to aim it at moving troops
Sorry to ask for this but your comment shouldn’t be tagged as a “Solution” to guesstimate or define wither this is to solve the issue that the thread mentions @8141720 take to me is really precious since I believe he is the most experienced to how it was working & to what effect those changes are good to solve the mentioned issue.
What will happen when dev enter these edits has already been discussed in this thread.
Was a problem with the fact that the mortar was shooting at points - now there is nowhere to shoot except points.
Most likely, the right decision would be to place all points on all maps in buildings and remove the ability to take a mortar in the main weapon slot. And bring back map aiming

Hi, the original issue was the special mini-map aiming system, which was completely removed - this is why I marked quotes to the patch as the solution:)

Well, Its more less to let people know who don’t have mortars that this issue (topic) has been addressed in a recent patch, they were suggesting that mortars having their own mini-map was an issue - it was removed, thus their suggestion was ‘resolved’ in a way. I have tagged it as a solution, but thread is still open so people are free to comment in here their opinions - just was hoping it would be constructive to the conversations here for people to understand there isn’t a special mini map for mortars anymore without reading every comment:) - also, please only use English whilst in the English speaking section.
There are other issues with mortars now, mainly related to its inaccuracy, as it feels like they nerfed the accuracy despite stating it got buffed. Either that, or the range indicator is not zero’d compared to the ranges displayed on the capture points.

When I tried to use the mortar in the Berlin test, this was exactly what I tried to do to adjust the distance. Its a very intuitive method and I feel that this is what comes to mind when players try to figure out how to use a mortar
As i said before, It the “special mini-map” was the big complaint of this original topic and it has been removed from the game, thus being ‘solved’.
The issue with it is more on being a weaponry that can single handedly control the outcome of a match, what you mentioned is true to great extent.
I think this post is odd to be considered a “Mortar” mage-thread, means the changes are yet to be tested & evaluated the point shouldn’t be in making the mortars useless (at which I’d advocate for their removal) but to see use without achieving the previously mentioned state.
I’m yet to get them (sadly couldn’t have any experience on either previous state) & to see how they could be developed/changed.
