It’s true to some extend, sten crossed the line.
After crossing this line, things are so cheaply made that they are literal trash. You can see those items all over the place as many of consumer goods are made this way.
The construction itself is primitive but effective (although side mag was a stupid idea), but manuacturing was awful at best. For example sights were badly welded and stationary.
