it was mentioned earlier in this topic that half track could be used as rally point, but it still makes it vulnerable cause of its size. most maps dont have cover around 40m of cap that could hide half track (except some urban maps, but they would require really skilled driving through debris and not being sniped by enemy tanks). engineer can build rally points in sneaky covered positions.
also would artillery be able to kill half truck? i think it should, so it would also make it even worse as rally point cause it couldnt be covered by building like engineer rally point could.
Ideally you should have a full rifle squad in an APC, drive it near the objective, hop out to defend it and in the meantime your team slowly spawns on the APC. This would make some sense.
planetside 2 trucks have specially made cover for all zones so they couldnt be easily attacked by enemy tanks, planes and infantry. enlisted doesnt. also planetside 2 has gigantic map where truck actually makes sense to use instead of spawning beacon.
well exactly what makes them work in planetside 2 is missing in enlisted. it is missing big maps where you could flank with multiple trucks and have multiple spawn points attacking one cap point. and also there isnt crap ton of debris on maps so you could actually move vehicles and there are 2-3 special covers for trucks per zone which prevent easy access from enemy vehicles and infantry so your trucks couldnt be destroyed. also there is stealth shield for when you want to spawn people in open.
Actually the closest equivalent to enlisted APCs I can think of is in HLL. You have both APC and supply truck there.
Regular APC is useless after the first 5min despite big maps.
Supply truck is used mainly to build structures away from the frontline (mainly nodes).
yes they could, but they would just be more exposed version of rally spawn that engineers already can build. just look at maps and tell me on what maps could you park half track 40m away from cap with it being in cover. i could only think of omer (mainly cause i play normandy) and that is if you use sneaky tactics and dont go on streets where tanks are. from my limited knowledge of other campaigns almost all maps have that 40 meter range either in building(some berlin caps) or in open field.
It’s a playable mission that many players enjoy, as many players in the forums have expressed their expectations, huge maps and transport vehicles. 5km x 5km map.
Maybe you would say that custom battles can’t get upgrade experience. and yes, this is indeed a problem, which is why some players are reluctant to play custom mods.
For me as a player, this game is not a simple experience to upgrade the broiler stand-alone game. This is a multiplayer cooperative game, I hope to get a rich combat experience and cooperative experience in the battlefield
I hope to participate in such a huge battlefield in the game. I’m sure many players have the same expectations as I do, even the players in this post claiming they don’t want half-tracks
Honestly, I wouldn’t be playing arcade games if custom modding games also had experience upgrades. Now my main motivation for playing arcade games is to get weapons and equipment, such as getting Tunisian motorcycles, so that I can better play The Big Action Mod that I made myself
I believe there will be 15v15 or 20v20 battles in the future, and we will have more huge maps of the such huge size SOON.
With that being said, what reason do I see against adding half-tracks? Maybe as you say these half-tracks are useless in arcade games, but arcade games have become part of the game, not everything.
The exist problems like small playable area, gray zones etc. these problems should not be used as a reason not to add new toys.
What if a new mechanic or thing shouldn’t be added to the game just because of the current flawed arcade mode? Then a lot of things are long overdue from appearing in the game. All this, the development team is really idle and flustered ? no.
If everything is from the point of view of practical experience upgrade efficiency, there is nothing new to add to the game. The development team directly made a dust_2 CS map for CQC players to shoot each other would ends everything?.
Take a look these meme in games. You can hardly see them in the game
They add these things, maybe it’s still just memes, no players use it, but someday they’ll find a way to make every type of weapon or vehicle useful in a suitable scenario.
Like a motorcycle, it’s considered useless by many players, but it’s very useful on a map the size of The Big Action. Even fighter jets without bombs have specific uses.
As the game gradually improves, motorcycles and half-tracks will gradually become more useful.
