Future Vehicle Relevancy?

As to berlin, for me personally until damage models are fixed, there’s really no reason to use the later tanks. I’m used to the Pz. IV J and I like how low it is. The panther just seems to get penned constantly, even if it’s got an electric drive in the turret. It doesn’t seem to kill T-34s any better either.

I like this idea, even though I am often switching out my tanks in the lineup depending on what modd I’m in.

Thats the general issue with the current meta. There is nearly no reason to use early gear.

The idea has potential…

But I still see people, myself included, using light tanks, merely for the fun of it. The lil stuart in Normandy? What a gem. The pz2 or t60 in Moscow? Their AT properties are abysmal, but they are Exellent against infantry and so tiny, I see them creeping everywhere between buildings (t 60 also got ridiculously good armour for a starter tank, its a good rolling machine gun nest)
In Berlin… … nvm. In Berlin starter tanks are to be forgotten entirely, pz4 is trash, and t34-85 is so similar in play to the first one there’s no reason to go back.

BA-11 makes way more fun though.

Sounds quite familiar…

(It’s 3rd or so time in the last 7 days, I send this kind of post. Weird.)

I’ll start by saying that we tried to fight this issue.

Where as you correctly said, majority of the tanks end up being left behind in the dust.

And is is a serious problem.
Especially when the meta is a thing.

On the other hand, I’m not sure you would like lose your tank that took you time to grind through, and lose it due to some spawn campers or nukes from CAS…

I do think more light vehicles, transport, and generally everything that has to do with mechanized infantry should be implemented instead of adding power creeps tanks.

But I don’t know.

I guess it’s a … +0.5 from me

Especially in the Moscow campaign this needs to be adressed. as soon as vehicles like T-34 and KV-1 appear tanks like PZII,T-26 etc will be totally useless. also the PZ 38T premium will be useless. there goes your 20 euro investment.

In Berlin most vehicles are able to atleast damage eachother. So a PZ IV J for example can always be usefull to some extend.

Personally I’d even like to see superlight tanks like the Pz. I in Moscow, light vehicles purely devoted to anti-infantry work would be a fun addition, especially if they’d be free under the point system.

I don’t like the point system… but I like those tiny tanks. That one in particular was in H&G. I just loved how average players constantly underestimated it’s usefulness. Being very shortsighted they only took into account AT potential of vehicles and nothing else. Ah, the carnages I made using that thing and the overpriced camo (worth 20x the tank value, without exaggeration) transformed me into a perfect wall against charging infantry. I didn’t need something huge, I needed something very small, maneuverable, with alot of mg…

I see the t60 in Moscow the same way. Only it’s even better with armour that can sometimes even bounce pz4 shells.

yeah, the point system idea was really only so there’d be a mechanical reason to use lighter tanks and not just spawn end-game tanks over and over again. I think if you leave it up to player choice most people won’t voluntarily gimp themselves, since they know most other people won’t either.

unfortunately it is also the fault of cod and battlefield that showed the 2 world war full of tanks while in reality as in enlisted the tanks were only for support if they were alone they were food for the infantry a light anti-infantry tank is far more useful than a slow, clumsy heavy tank unable to defend itself from infantry

It is my opinion as well. I consider myself an average player, but I’m a fairly good tanker. Sometimes I spot other great tankers using the starter tankette in Moscow: if I drive a pz4, they simply will never leave cover… But place themselves in a way that their mg fire still support their infantry to great effect. As such they fulfill their role to perfection. It’s what I do when I drive a tier 1 tank aswell.

Wich makes me think… An alternative system could be to reward a little bit more xp to tier 1 tanks when they take infantry out, but not award that bonus to later tier tanks. Just an idea.

encouraging the use of tier 1 tanks is a good idea considering that in Normandy the “puma” is gold

I just recently switched back the the puma when it hit me that it’s got better AP power due to it’s longer gun, and now i’m back to swatting shermans.

The puma is awesome one shot all allaied tanks from the side and his speed make him an hard target for infantry withaut piat
