I wrote a solution for this, the developer uses a solution in cuisine royale called Fair play TPV:
In Enlisted a similar system could be implemented,
(you can play in first or third-person view. To mitigate any advantage of the latter, have squad members detect (mark * call out) the position of a player who is peeking around a corner. So if you see a marker or hear your squad shouting about an enemy - you should know that you are being watched.)
Oh god pls no. Battlefront 2 and Enlisted are two entirely different types of games trying to achieve something completely different from one another. Just jamming in mechanics or ideas from one different game to another is just a disaster waiting to happen…
Well this game isn’t a TPS. This game is quite literally meant to be a REALISTIC FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. It’s built from the ground up as such and interjecting Third Person mechanics into this first person shooter is just disaster waiting to happen. You need to keep in mind what this game is trying to be rather than trying to overlay ideas from completely different shooters into this one.
Don’t get me wrong tho, I love me some Third Person shooters. For instance Battlefront II (2017). I’m a huge max heavy main myself but I would NEVER want a third person camera for infantry units in this game. Sure maybe for planes and tanks. But god no not for infantry.
Edit: Also again, don’t get me wrong I see where you’re coming from and the appeal of what a 3rd person camera could look like for infantry. As again, I play BF2 (2017) DAILY and solely in 3rd person. So I understand why the 3rd person camera is appealing to you. But this game has a “realistic” damage model and mechanics that are easily exploitable in a 3rd person view. And interjecting all these work arounds like teammates spotting enemies exploiting the 3rd person view and whatnot is just interjecting more complications than are needed. Especially at a time like right now when this development time needs to be put towards making the game and it’s mechanics much better. Interjecting 3rd person infantry mechanics into this would just further screw up the infantry experience and would lead to a lot of folks trying to exploit this new 3rd person view. Just a whole lot of nope from me coming from someone who plays Rising Storm 2: Vietnam and as someone who also plays Star Wars Battlefront II (2017)
Have you played cuisine royale,
It’s literally the exact same game engine and maps made by the same developer but battle royale game type and has a very functioning third person first person swappable camera, bringing third person camera swapping like that to Enlisted would put this game in a very good spot that no other games currently are.
“AI soldier teammates, and camera swapping”
we have other games that are trying to be realistic, I remember trying to argue about bringing AI teammates into games like this, and everyone was just like “OMG NO THIS WOULD RUIN THE GAME”
Well to be fair, no I have not. But does that game also have a realistic damage model which could easily be exploited with a 3rd person view? Does this battle royale have an armor system that boosts players’ health and prevents things like damage model exploiting? If it does have an armor system, then that’s something that I DO NOT want in this realistic WW2 shooter. As this game is trying to be AUTHENTIC and REALISTIC. And I do not want all these things like armor plates and boosted health and whatnot in this game in order to combat 3rd person camera exploiting.
Yeah you see now, after checking out that video the way the game flows and is meant to play is completely different from what Enlisted is trying to be. Interjecting 3rd person mechanics and exploit preventing mechanics from this game into Enlisted is just disaster waiting to happen. Also, idk if I want Enlisted to be one of the games that was a “Joke” that then became a game. As is said in JackFrag’s title there
Oh wait and one last thing, about you arguing for AI teammates in other realistic shooters and whatnot. For those games they aren’t specifically meant for AI teammates like Enlisted is. In Enlisted that’s the whole “schtick” so to say and this is what the game is being built around and balanced for. While in other games like in Hell Let Loose or Post Scriptum, heck even RS2: Vietnam, these games are meant to be solely PVP and adding in AI teammates to these games could just be game-breaking or immersion-breaking. Since in these games it’s all about teamwork and communication. And adding bots into all that would break those core ideas and it’s something that goes against what those games are trying to do.
Like, have you ever joined a Rising Storm server that mainly has bots in it? I have and I can say it’s really not as fun or even balanced as the pure player servers are. So it’s a totally different case here for Enlisted versus something like those games. I do see why it’d be cool tho to have bots in those games as well. To make the battles feel bigger and just more epic overall. But the AI for those games typically isn’t programmed or cared for to the extent that the AI for a game like Enlisted is. And the AI in those games wouldn’t be able to serve the core ideas of what those games are. So it’s really not that fair of a comparison between these realistic shooters.
Give me the ability to change my camera… why does it have to be one or the other. In the end the option to have a third person “game mode” could be given but I doubt the playerbase could stand another split,
you say stop playing first person shooters, but there isn’t a replacement, not many third person games exist in this genre, they are all trying to be the same thing , "squad, hell let loose, rising storm vietnam, battlefield V, call of duty ww2, they are all first person games, where is the third person camera option in any game??
Give me my own game mode then, where third person can be enabled and call it Arcade mode… and then you can have your realism mode, just like war thunder does, heck even in war thunder realism is a third person camera.
You are not in a position to ask for a first-person view
if u wana play TPS then change a game…
In real life u dont have TPS, so u can blame car factory to give u TPS…
This thread should be locked a and word TPS banned!!!
The developers made this game only in first person so it will feel authentic and well realistic. If you don’t playing first person shooters whether its realistic or arcade, then at least there are other genres for you out there. Sure there are games like Squad or Hell Let Loose or anything of the sort, however those games were made to authentic and real too to capitalize that you are in a real war and adding something like a TPV in this set genre would take people out of the experience especially since its already set in stone that it will only be in first person.
