Fighter Role and It's Purpose

I’ll start with the less important stuff
Exclusive Fighter slot: I think there should be a 5th slot added that exclusively for fighters, thing is that the vehicle slot we got is overwhelmingly used for tanks and attackers so the fighter are the ones used the least them receiving a guarantee to be in a battle would make them more widely used and make the air battle battle more interesting when it comes to modes such as invasion where the attackers can sign.

Larger Map/New Game mode: Since i’ve been hearing that’s larger maps and scale of operations coming i think fighters should play an important role i don’t have not developed any detailed concept yet but i hope this threads helps. So there’s many way aerial superiority could be achieved for example a certain number of attacker ai fighters which could be operating independently through the match or a stage at the start of the battle where players could fight for air supremacy and then attack the AI planes which will determine the number of attackers or and fighters that can be later brought when the ground operations start.

Anyway i hope you guys find the bear bones ideas i presented interesting and we reach a detailed conclusion on what could work and have a purpose that actively helps they troops on the ground by arguing on the topic

I’ll agree on adding a fighter slot if it’s changed to plane slot. I’ve seen matches where no tanks showed up because most of my team had the planes in their vehicle slot, rather than a tank. You don’t know what you’re getting into and what your team will have once you queue up for battle.

With that said, though, I’m thinking that we’ll see an increased focus on air supremacy once the bigger maps get here. Good suggestion, mate!

i… i somewhat disagree. don’t get me wrong, i love airplanes, dog fights and everything.
but like i said and suggested in another post, limits on the vehicles should only be modified by the ammount of players in the match and how big is the map.

because fighters planes or just planes in general in game like enlisted, it’s somewhat of a loss. meaning that a squad it’s not operating on the field because someone diecided to deal with planes by using a plane. considering that right now, there are two planes slots, two squads are not playing the objective. this is a huge downside. and i would not include another one for the moment.
not to mention, fighter planes most of the time are just there to kill planes. and that’s all. they can make some strife runs but the impact is low. and most of the time… get shoot down by some AA
surely they cover an important job, like bombers that can help the infantry on the ground to cap better… but eh

just to give more targets for the eginneers to shoot at?
because to be honest, the enginners are the ones that enstablish who has air supremacy.

in my personal opinion, as i said, we need first light vehicles for the infantry such as, trucks, halftrucks, scouts cars and maybe armored cars.

but even before, we need bigger maps, and more numbers of actual players. than we can think about more planes.

but this is just my personal opinion.

Problem with countering attackers is, that there is no need to have an effective counter. Currently flying a plane is pretty much like putting blindfold around your head and trying to shoot at random. Yeah, you can kill somebody from time to time and with enough luck you can even kill more, but right now, air superiority has literally no impact on the game and is irrelevant even for units fighting on the ground.
Why? The answer is simple… too low render distance for pilots to actually pose any real danger or be a force that should be counted with.
So even if devs add fighter slot, it will be only rarely used simply because hunting useless aircraft with another useless aircraft instead of playing objective on the ground is pretty much a waste of time and XP gain.

I made the post about blind pilots a long time ago, but it kinda got forgotten in the dust.

On the other hand, we have honestly far worse balancing issues that are more vital for the game´s future than aircraft at this very moment.
