"Even less historical accuracy"

Wondering how they are going to manage this…

the game already has inaccurate armies, inaccurate weapons, inaccurate vehicles and planes, inaccurate names, inaccurate history…

What are they going to add to make it less historically accurate - Space Marines and Orcs??

The rest of the proposal looks like it might possibly be useful (devil is in the as yet unknown detail of course), but WTF is this supposed to be about??

space marines

Moon mission returns, confirmed

I am not going to lie, having some Ork boyz laying out some Dakka would make me play the game even more!

On a more serious note, historical accuracy has to take a back seat to game balance and play-ability.

agreed.
if one wants to see content besides kar98k vs nagants

When people call for historical accuracy they just want time period appropriate gear.

So no Tiger II in Moscow etc.

To some degree - but there’s plenty of games (electronic and otherwise) don’t go to the silly extremes of historical nonsense that Enlisted has :frowning:

Theres gotta be a middle ground between stubborn “historical accuracy at all costs” and the laissez-faire “give up historical accuracy for the sake of balance”

it feels like most people can’t think of possibilites outside of Darkflows draft and lock themselves into two extremes.

It was just a draft.

When you dont care you dont need to manage anything

Sadly some people can’t understand this. Maybe because we are too stupid to explain this to them.

Not that I explained this to you like yessterday.
I guess I’m the idiot.

My main concern is balance and variety - I like Moscow and Tunisia largely becuase they aren’t full of full auto spam. I don’t want to see bolt actions overrun and useless. I know they have plans for this, but I’m still concerned.

I like the tech tree idea and breaking into nations instead of campaigns for progression and future expansion - and I’m certainly no history buff - but there needs to be a way to keep the equipment separated like they are now.

Maybe at the start of a match (which would obviously be a somewhat at random map after the update) you have to choose your squads, with inappropriate ones being restricted. If there could be a way of making this quick to do - or players creating presets somehow for each era.

but we don’t even have that now. PZ IV F2 wasn’t at Moscow, Federov is from WW1, MKB wasn’t in Moscow, etc etc. If “time period” just means “it existed”, then you can argue the Tiger can be in Moscow because it went into production in 1942 just like the PZ IV F2. Or the FG42 should be in Moscow because it was in service in 1942. Shit, the first Panther prototypes were made in September 1942, toss that in as well.

It’s completely arbitrary. If it was used during WW2 by the faction, throw it in the game.

well who wanted fedorov vs mkb in the moscow anyway ? i guess nobody, devs took this kid idea as a superb solution of keeping the game interesting and we had to accept it somehow, yet it ruined historical feel of moscow campaign (at least regarding guns)

all the devs did was adding more and more guns , with very drastic upgrades, needless ones
to jump from g41 to zh29 to mkb42… mkb is excess in here , but why ? for more fun ? what on moscow would not be fun without mkb or fedorov… its a goddamn ww2 , we dont really need prototypes or long dead guns to keep the game/ campaign interesting… nobody wanted to add an assault rifle to moscow because it was boring or shit

but once devs done this , they then had to balance it with some counterpart for enemy faction , which ended in a bit of a clownfest since there are no restrictions on weapons per squad … that said i dont really care what existed back then, but what was actually used

if fedorov would appear back then, then only in form rarity as hell

mkb ? also rarity as hell, if ever

pz f2 also but for the sake of balance who would care ? its just a vehicle, one or two vehicles (tanks) per map, not whole fedorov squads … but to put here already tuned t34 (1941) is weird at best , first t-34 and kv-1 would suffice

i mean idk man, surely some guns and vehicles should not be a thing in some maps
, this is not battlefield portal or other shit, but im willing to sacrifice some inaccruacies to better system and game overall ,i just think some guns should be removed but thats my opinion

im glad that this update will happen and i hope game will stay fun for me, i might return to customs as well

Then it’s time for the devs to fix what they decided was a good idea and the community never asked for.

Should have saved the Fedorov for a Winter War campaign (for the soviets) or Continuation War campaign (for the Finns, captured)

The beauty of the new tech tree is that all wrong decisions and inaccuracies can be fixed.
But it’s up to Darkflow.

Get me right, I think the coming changes are necessary. And I’m glad they’re being bold and once and for all trying to fix this unsustainable situation that we have today.

But is it enough?

I got a feeling that the limitation of the coming MM and squad system is the DF limitations.
If they got the will and skill to fix this, they should and could. If not, god help some of us.

There are many of us who have put forward compromising solutions.

Darkflows MM-solution is surely a radical solution yet it feels juvenile, cheap, and superficial.

Easy to implement. Effective. But on the same note, it’s the simplest solution without any effort or great skill needed.

Edit:

However i will def not cry rivers if they proceed with what they showed.
BUT, I do really hope they will give custom some love.
There is a potential there.
Move the current squad system to that lobby. Make that effort.
Many of us would have loved to be able to utilize our premiums etc. as we do today

Then BT7 and pzII in Berlin

Absolutely not.

Weapons were there for a reason.
MP 3008 was in WW2 but it was a last ditch weapon → it only makes sense in Berlin.
Pz IV F2 was the German response to T-34/KV-1, not a precursor.

Just because the devs added F2 and MKB to Moscow before (to which I always opposed), doesn’t mean at all that throwing a 1945 megatank and RPD to Stalingrad would feel right.

The global change is a chance to FIX authenticity, not RUIN it.

Yeah, devs will need to write some new code for that and scratch their heads, who would have imagined?
