ONLY playing with one type of squad is not the problem here, the real problem is that “often” just one type of squad is the META.
Like if I play with a group of players, everyone in the team has a “set” role that he is supposed to fulfill, thus one guy focuses on playing pioneer squads, one focuses on AT squad, and one is playing the best Infantry squad available ( which often is Assault squads )
What is the problem here? This is great gameplay, the only thing the game needs to get better at would be balancing “sniper, assault, MG, and Infantry squads” and make them equally powerful.
As others have said, restrict taking more than 2. Hell let them take 3 assaulter squads (if they have more slots) but prevent them from cycling those 3 squads.
Well for a campaign like Tunisia you can just bring 2 assault squads and a bike squad then never use the bike squad. You effectively have the same thing as running 3 assault squads as you would just be cycling those 2 assault squads back to back.
No! I use specific squads on Berlin because I like the covered helmets on the Germans. They just so happen to be all assaulter squads. I don’t want to be forced into using squads with upgrades or looks that I simply don’t want to use.
If a system like this would ever come to play, I would prefer that you can take however many squads of the same type that you want, you just cant use that same type repetitively.
So for example, if you use an assaulter squad then you must use a different squad type next (so infantry, sniper etc) before assaulters are available again.
But overall tbh, I dont really mind how it is now. I like the flexibility that we have
