Diffrent secondary objectives

in normandy, we have seen a secondary objective of destroying/protecting barrage ballons, giving adittional spawns to the attackers, when destroyed (yes, it sucks)

but how about secondary objectives from the more strategic view? such as capturing secondary objective to gain another spawn point? or completing the build of almost done He-111 parked in the hangar behind (it would need a diffrent takeoff path)

in eastern front campaign soviets could have secondary objective of completing few almost done strong tanks (prototype variants of T-34? KV-1? KV-2?? or just another common 1940 variant of T-34?) in abandoned factories to help defend their front (or capturing the tanks, before soviets could finish their work - if on german side)

in the already existing moscow campaign, where germans have to assault the castle i noticed a trench, on the left side of the map - it is a very good location to place a rally point, but it is too far from the castle to be of good use (respawn times) - while at same time having a secondary objective there, to get on other side of the river (and getting a spawn point) might roll out well

what do you think?

in the past, i wanted to improve secondary objective as well:

but both my idea and your idea, comes with flaws despite good intentions.

the first reasons why my idea has flaw, it’s because it relays on AI.
and well… for how much strong the AI will become, they are still AIs.

and in your situation here, would imply player’s skills.

which can be both good and bad at the same time.

it’s a never ending scenario.

just to take an example, giving Kv1s, t34s or kv2s to player, would be quite powerfull. especially when matchmaker will be a thing. it gets unfairly unbalance for the defenders. the matchmaker has been roughly touched. only a few words were mentioned. such as " matchmaker based on level campaign " which this would imply that if you under the level 22 as a german, you are pretty much screwed. the panzer IV could deal with the t34 or any other threats from the side, and later on germany will unlock the pz III J.

on top of that, here it comes the issue with the players.
the " loop ".

if the tank player “is bad”, it’s gonna cost the soviet an important tank. on the other hand, the germans will have an ““easier”” time to deal with it.

but if the tank will be given to the best players, it’s going to be really bad for the germans. ( the other way around ).

so, as a russian player my self, i have mercy for the germans. and there is no need for power creeps.

on the second part of this suggestion, i’m…
okish.

the problem is, this would be a disavantage for the defenders.
just think about it, you have to defend a point, which in enlisted, it’s not always easy due to mortars, tanks, lots of automatic weapons and death is around every corner.

the last thing you need, is to defend ( in this scenario ) a trench and divide the manpower on two fronts. just to struggle even more if you fail.

perhaps the secondary objective should be stastic emplacements. but even there, it gets a bit difficult.

so i don’t know, let’s see what the others thinks.

we might get to refine the idea.

cheers.

you are right, instead of “secondary objectives” we could get new game mode instead (something like “enduring confrontation” in war thunder)

I once suggested leaving broken tanks on the battlefield so that they could be repaired(with tools) and used.I think it would be a good secondary objective.

destroyed tanks would most often be in too bad state to be of any use

but we have something like secondary objective already - in normandy campaign (not the ballons), the map where you defend the big beach from SIDE, 2nd defence point, there is a mg bunker to the left, which clears any of the teams well

I about low destroyed tanks (tracks, engine, turret and other).

they still, would not be as functional as before

in best case we get a new game mode - enduring confrontation alike
