Campaign rework idea

btv is more of an arcade game that does not focus so much on historical precision, but on showing an arcade game more than a lot, although enlisted also said that they would add things not precisely historical, but, in order to balance, for example, in invasion of normandy we might see the american / british tank destroyers that were specifically designed to destroy the tiger and king tiger tanks, things like that

That’s pretty much what I want to be implemented in the game. A new set of maps that could be unlocked and played on with some later weapons to be used specifically on those maps (and on historically later map sets).

i like it. Makes the unlocks make sense and experienced players cant stomp on novice guys. At least the pros have the perks to help them even without the fancy weapons.

Yeah this has been suggested a lot and this is the only logical way I see for the players to get Stalingrad, Kursk, Sevastopol or Konigsberg maps - you can’t have a new campaign each time for each city, really.

This way there could be no complaints about the MKb 42(H) being there too early. It’ll fit within the new theatre classification.

Good idea, I would rather have it this way than to have Stalingrad or Kursk on 2 separate campaigns. If this idea does go through then it would also give the Pacific Theater a chance to include a lot of battles. We would have New Guinea, Philippines, and Guadalcanal in one theater.

stay early war with the pacific. late war would give the us a major advantage unless u add japanese paper and fantasy stuff

When it comes to late war Pacific, a good option would be to go with Philipinnes 1944-1945: Suggestion for Pacific Campaign: Philippines campaign 1944. Japanese would have a historically accurate AT rocket launcher, more then one SMG and possibly even some semi autos.

The other good option I think would be the Kokoda Track campaign. ANZAC forces, as well as Japanese, didn’t have any semi auto rifles, so it would be balance at least in that part. There would also be no tanks and heavy support weapons since terrain conditions prevented use of such equipment there.

To me “the Pacific theater” also means the Soviet invasion of Manchuria and Korea in 1945 - would be cool to have a ciuple maps where your Soviet side from Berlin 1945 clashes against Japan’s Kwantung army (though very hard to balance).

Or just do Eastern front 1941-1942 for moscow to keep it accurate.

And Germany eastern front 1945. For berlin. So you could fight in the vystyla oder offensive seelow heights and Berlin

Please do not forget Maraya, Dutch East Indies, Burma, and above all China… Most of Japanese troops were sent to Chinese continent, not Pacific islands so sometimes it is called Asia-Pacific War.
If you want to see battle between Soviet vs Japan, I think “Battles of Khalkhin Gol” is better than 1945. Both forces have balanced infantry weapons, tanks and aircrafts.

Speaking of Dutch East Indies, Burma and so on. Correct me if I’m wrong, but weren’t the battles in continental Asia mostly fought against the Commonwealth forces? (so, from the gameplay perspective, no semi autos for allies either)?

In China there are lots of Chinese army and fought with Japanese during 1937-1945.
But yes, mostly Southeast Asian colonial army were consisted with Commonwealth: British army, British Indian army, Australian army etc. Additionally, Japanese also fought with Dutch colonial army (yup Dutch East Indies is not continent) and French colonial army. They had several unique weapons and armored cars so perhaps for some people those battles are interesting.
Ditch East Indies was attacked by Japanese army just after start of Pacific war. Also, after Vichy French was dismantled, French army attacked by Japanese occupation army at Indochina.

So if they decided to implement those battles, I think they would be balanced when it comes to equipment. Although Darkflow doesn’t seem to like the idea of bolt action only campaigns, so I wonder what they would do.
Also, now that I think about this, Dutch East Indian forces had Johnson rifles, so it will be fun seeing how Darkflow managed that.

At least, Japanese army had project of semi-auto rifles and they build several prototypes until 1937. (Project cancelled due to start of war) If they allow to use such things, Japanese can get it.
Also, in Philippines, Japanese garrisons were armed with captured rifles include M1 Carbine and Garand.

I like the general idea of “theatre” instead of “campaign”! I quite find boring the fact to regrind for hours for the same weapon in two different campaign.

I find this to be the most sensible solution. As you progress in the campaign you’ll be able to play in new maps that would feature such weapons while being limited to use later unlocks, like the Tiger 2H in the starting maps, like Normandy.
With the addition of Stalingrad, it’d obviously have to remain separate of Moscow and new maps spanning from 1942 to 1943 should be added.
As for Berlin, I’d find it very interesting if Festung cities were added, like Warsaw, Budapest, Danzig and Königsberg to name a few. It should not be limited to Berlin.

I don’t think that Warsaw in particular could be added, and for the same reason as the September campaign couldn’t - politics.
With the September campaign you have the involvment of the Soviets as Hitler’s allies, and that part of WW2 cannot be talked about in Russia (you can go to prison for it), and with Warsaw you have the Warsaw Uprising and the fact that the Soviets didn’t help the Home Army fighting with the Germans but rather waited on the eastern bank of the Vistula river for the Uprising to end.

Fair point but ignoring Warsaw I still believe it would be a nice addition to add Festung cities to the Berlin Campaign which could be renamed to Road to Berlin or Final Years of the Reich or whatever name it would fit better to include other city battles (which should be the main point of the campaign) outside of Berlin.

Could you also update the main post to the current campaings with the addition of Stalingrad and the Pacific. I really believe this to be the solution to the Campaign system.

Just wait untill everyone realises that adding Warsaw = adding a Sturmriger :upside_down_face:
