But with one game mode more then could be most be happy on the end.
I don’t think BR±0 will ever be a thing. There’s a psychological component that comes with being uptiered / downtiered that drives sales and player retention.
Downtiers = Dopamine hit from an ez game = keep playing
Uptiers = Frustration from being steam rolled = spend gold on premium squads
It’s a F2P game at the end of the day…
I like the idea but I think it would split the scarce playerbase we currently have. If devs introduce this game mode they should also start a new advertising campaign for Enlisted, I haven’t seen a single ad from it since… maybe 2023?
i think this would reduce the split.
Maybe as a very last resort reduce the rewards of players who just play one Game mode.
I think this would be the very last resort .
People are approaching this with too much of a scarcity mindset.
Halloween, April Fools, and Even Fight events always split up the playerbase in the past too, but they also brought players back to play them. And with the intention of this mode, the overall population should grow quickly, since onboarding and advertising should be more optimized. Squads shouldn’t get a significant dip in population at all, if anything it might grow immediately too.
Ideally, Campaign Quickplay is like War Thunder’s “Arcade” mode, while Squads is Enlsited’s “Realistic”, in terms of skill floors/ceilings, accessibility and learning curve.
In other words, people are too afraid to split the playerbase, that they would rather see the game die than give it exactly what it needs.
True
Agreed, the “It’ll split the playerbase” is used as an excuse against almost any good update.
New maps?
New factions?
Campaign quickplay?
“Nooooo!! It’ll split the playerbase!”
As you say this game desperately needs fresh ideas and content to attract new players.
At present all its doing is slowly watching the number of existing fans dwindle.
The only reason Ive stuck around is because I havent got a decent WWII FPS alternative (Hell Let Loose is too intense for me, indeed Enlisted is like WT Arcade and HLL like WT Realistic, high level)
I think this concept would make it easier to introduce squads and weapons from other countries into the game, while also helping address the lack of equipment available for certain nations.
For example:
- Assaulter: wz. 39 Mors vs MP 28
- Machine Gunner: wz.1928 vs MG 34
- AT Gunner: wz.35 vs PzB 39
- Flametrooper: Wechselapparat M.1917 vs Flammenwerfer 35
- Rifles: wz.29 vs Kar 98K
- APC: Ursus A vs SdKfz 7
-
Tank: 7TP vs Pz. III B
-
Attacker: PZL.23A vs Ju 87 B-1
-
Fighter: PZL P.11 vs Bf 109 E-1
I think this mode could really explore really different fronts of WW2.
Like Battle of France , Invasion of Poland 1939. Norwegian Campaign. and the finish Soviet wars, maybe Battle fields what maybe work less well in Merge.
If War Thunder goes post WW2 with some WW2 weapons , in history many WW2 Weapons where used in the Korean war.
I think enlisted should then go back , the 1 Event did show Enlisted hase WW1 stuff.
I think to wars between ww1 and ww2 like,
Polish-Soviet War (1919–1921):
• A struggle over the borders of the newly established Polish state against Soviet Russia and the Ukrainian People’s Republic; concluded with the Peace of Riga.
• Russian Civil War (1917/1918–1922):
• A massive and bloody civil war following the October Revolution, fought between the “Reds” (Bolsheviks) and the “Whites,” as well as various independence-seeking and interventionist forces.
• Spanish Civil War (1936–1939):
• A brutal conflict between the republican government forces and the fascist insurgents led by General Francisco Franco, with international support from Germany, Italy, and the Soviet Union; often viewed as a “dress rehearsal” for the Second World War.
• Second Sino-Japanese War (beginning in 1937):
• A large-scale invasion of China by the Empire of Japan (following the initial conflict in Manchukuo that began in 1931); in the Asian theater, this was already being waged as a “total war” well before the official outbreak of the Second World War in Europe.

i’ll start by saying that, it’s not a new game mode.
it’s just an event tab with some shuffled missions with profiles.
which i wouldn’t mind.
but, i voted no because:
Except, Historical Battles are a tiny Niche.
Even now, that people can host HA Battles, almost no one plays them.
… which it’s. fine.
and NO.
Big action is not a historical accurate mode.
even the creator TommyZMM admitts it as it was more so of a test and explore the " what ifs " of enlisted.
still impressive by all means, but still innaccurate.
despite what he said at one point and what others think that mod is.
a bit of speculation on my part,
but not many new players would really play it as it doesn’t progress their own squads.
so, if anything, you would primarily attract on going mid to end tier players and veterans like me who have grinded everything and tries something new " just to feel something " .
us 4 cats?
you shouldn’t have ![]()
… no really. you shouldn’t have ![]()
jokes aside,
a totaly historical mode is only ever so possible to be made in Mods.
because from what we experienced, both from the fair event, ( that tried to be historical accurate, but failed miserably )
People do not enjoy them at all. because historical accuracy is not balanced.
there is a reason why enlisted had to move elsewhere and introduce protos for it’s longevity.
and two, neither the community or developers really know what historical accuracy actually enties.
and three, worse yet, the game is not supported for actual historical accuracy.
now, as a background, i started playing enlisted and kinda liked it because it reminded me of red orchestra 2, one of my favorite game which wasn’t totally historical accurate either.
but close enough.
fast forward few years, i started modding for this game with the intent of focusing on pure historical accuracy. and to some degree, i managed to replicate it.
( though… constant updates probably broke them and if i will ever get the time or have patience, i’ll have to fix them )
and what where we met with?
atrocious performance because the game does not like you giving players 10 / 12 soldiers per squad ( since german squads historically were fitted not with just 6/7/9 soldiers, but up to 10.
and the americans, 12. etc ( though it depends the time period )
let alone having more than 4 vehicles per time
it requires an insane amount of optimization which can be possible as shown in the big action mode, but something that is painfully methodic and slow,
something that the developers clearly don’t have time ( or… will ) for it.
my main gripes, which granted, can clearly be adjusted but.
much like veekay, his ideal workd of historical accuracy doesn’t even come close.
and from what i’m gathering here, historical accuracy became standard by what they actually used, to now, in suggestions like these, what we think they used.
like,
in the first example screenshot,
you have a whole squad using 3 different type of rifles.
now, if it was some sort of replacement squad in moscow i think it would be plausible, but then again,
life expectansy wasnt that great.
so your precious pre war kar 98ks wouldn’t be there to begin with.
the Patronentrommel 34 was rather rare to see in infantry usage,
which kinda defeats the " being rare " if everyone would start with one ).
thogh i guess your selection was for " balance " by giving them something strong.
but then again, you go in the circle of " balanace < Historical accuracy "
same goes with SMG Detachments for the germans.
extreamely rare, and only ever done so in the latter years of the war.
Mg13s were mostly used by rear troops, and occassionally by the luftwaffe un 1944,
brits didn’t had so many submachinegun as you portrayed.
but i’m getting sidetracked.
TDLR;
i love historically accuracy.
and i would play it 24/7
… but the thing is, we can’t ask for something that isnt,
which won’t be popular, and worse yet, be delivered with something that is going to be butchered.
may sound like an agenda, but this stuff is and should be only for mods.
which should be improved so that people have more accessibility and support to do these sort of battles properly.
not yet another botched gamemode that will be forgotten just like campaigns,.
and working from improvent with mods towards earning fairly as rotation modes / events.
which we were promised, but nobody cared about the progress of mod making either way.
… but anyway, into the abyss i shall go.
The reason why nobody plays them is there isnt a reward for them.
Did you forget this game now is mostly just Fomo?
To be 100% Historical accurate is maybe impossible ,
But another game mode could be much more beter than the Freak show of Enlisted now.
But a more historical game mode could make games much less fast passed, reason less full auto weapons.
With the Balance i did write three ways to balance it in one of my past comment.
Maybe a thing nobody did read.
I argued as way 4 a Underdog Bonus (Higher Rewards for Playing) the weaker side.
Extra reward for playing weaker units , and more rewards for good performance with it.
i did not.
however, most zombies, gun games and modern mods are the most played mods even without incentive.
… except HA stuff. that tells you something.
it is possible,
but most wouldn’t go for the effort as… it’s not worthed.
and believe me, i’m one of the few true hardcore historical accuracy supporters.
so much so, that i still run with historical loadouts in the base game.
and actively make ( or… used to for the moment ) actual historical battles.
how many do that?
not a whole lot.
but it’s not about credentials.
i could post thousands of my own posts.
but that would hardly move the conversation.
i’m more so saying that there isn’t interest.
Imo, the only way for historical accurate mission to work, would be PVEs.
where players would have a more numerical advantage, you have fixed loadouts squads… which no one would like to play with.
because the other major thing is, fixed squads like the " fair events " appears to be higly unpopular because of it.
people like to play what they grinded.
which i wouldn’t blame.
so the next thing would be an " arcade " mode where bots have historical loadouts, but players get to use what they grinded ( within a time period. so no tigers against T26s, Bt7s and those early war missions.
but then again, it would defeat the purpouse of being a ““historical mode””.
and has it’s own multitude of problems which would be lenghty to address ( Primarily the AI inability to deal with players vehicles and what not ).
thus, making more sense in custom matches through mods.
and have a selection of moderators who define the quality and what not, and enable earnings through events.
the very thing they promised us, but never materialised.
it’s not actually a balanced if you are removing stuff that was actually used.
in the US case, most of the time, will be better than japan side of arsenal.
which i don’t mind.
but most do.
i suppose.
but i doubt the feasability and the reasonable time frame would allow that.
Many arguments from you are just terrible
so much so, that i still run with historical loadouts in the base game.
and actively make ( or… used to for the moment ) actual historical battles.
how many do that?
It isnt really possible if you not even know on what battle field you are playing in the end.
If a play a more historical squad i get destroyed by players who use proto types.
Japan could get better aircraft like the Zero
Usa could get weaker aircraft like Wildcats and Brewster F2A Buffalo.
But the USA could get better Tanks .
it’s not actually a balanced if you are removing stuff that was actually used.
in the US case, most of the time, will be better than japan side of arsenal.
which i don’t mind.
but most do.
Not every device where on all places on all times.
My way would make the game atleast much more historical plausible.
The World war 1 Event was Popular ATLEAST IN THE BEGINNING, with a more diverse game play it would hade stayed more popular.
I dont think it was historical perfect but more closer than merge.
You think always in extremes.
Precisely. There wouldn’t be a necessity for enough equipment up to BR 5 in all weapon and vehicle types, so it’s a much easier way to implement minor nations. Think Greece, Ethiopia/Abyssinia, and even Spanish Civil War.
And it could be enough of a springboard that some factions (France, Hungary, Finland, possibly even Conbined Chinese Forces) could be upgraded to having a Squads tech tree and matchmaking as well, if appropriate.
Think about how much this expands the game beyond the current limits faced by the developers.
I think if your mode would work with points to uses stronger units , than less popular vehycles would get maybe more uses, if you need to play the Nashorn only 1000 points but for a panther tank maybe 1500 points and for a Br4 tiger one maybe 1700 points, then vehycles like the Nashorn would be used more in the Game.
