Berlin, FW190

Are you familiar with “energy” fighting, “boomnzoom” fighting and “turn” fighting? Not sure how much experience you have?

Energy fighting can take a while to get the hang of.

My skills are at the level of not knowing this word.
I found a page on the Warthunder Wiki that explains it and now I’m off to learn it.

Depending on how keen you are theres some Good Warthunder Pilots that do tutorials on Energy fighting on youtube. DEFYN is a really good youtube pilot…(But pretty advanced)

But that depends how hard you want to go into it. If you like nerding out its pretty indepth. I have the advantage of learning over many years how to energy fight.

But if you just want to dabble, most important thing to know is energy is about Altitude and Speed, and transitioning it from one to the other. Doing horizontal turns and constant maneuvers , bleed speed, therefor bleeds energy.

Boomnzoom fighters more specifically, without energy are dead fighters.

Thanks. I am going to try to learn it.

There are more recent ones, But I just tried to find you basic ones first. Also Enlisted is more about ground Striking, But it still helps to fly your plane the way they are meant to

Also, your garden Variety Gamer Pilot will just flat turn circle fight and know nothing about energy. So if you learn this, you will Dump on the majority of pilots you come across

What @Myrm1don said.

Also:

This isn’t strictly the plane’s fault, but rather because of how the “flying instructor” works, which is how the game translates mouse inputs into plane controls.

Basically, when you move the mouse, the game will try to bring the plane’s crosshair to the mouse cursor (the white circle) as quickly as allowed by the plane controls.

The problem with the FW190s is that they have VERY strong rudder authority. Therefore, in case of minor turns, the game will prioritize applying rudder over rolling and turning, thus making the plane sideslip.

In order to prevent/counter that, when turning in for a ground strike pass, you’d better overturn a little at first, so that by correcting back you will bring your rudder close to neutral.

I did not know that.
I thought I was the only one sitting in the cockpit of this FW190D, but I was horrified by the frightening fact that someone invisible was holding the controls over my hands.

Yeah, the instructor is a bit special, hes supposed to be there to save you but usually hes the reason you get killed.

Even turning him off in warthunder, he still grabs your rudder control at the worst moments

I bought the BP one a while back - yeah a little hard to manouvre - definitely practice with it - but easy to bomb with IMO - get heaps of ground kills, and good for killing bombers too  - I’m not a great dogfighter tho.

They are probably what we call gremlins.

One helper which I am not gonna name said it’s cuz of high winds in Berlin. Plus I think even one of devs also said that for Berlin at least.

As for Normandy that one should have been fixed as there are no ‘‘high winds’’. So this one is still bugged.

Good fighter VS soviet airforces. Not so good for dive bombing or kamikaze. If you want to eliminate enemy tank, JU-87 will be better choice because the 250kg is in the middle. And if have enough slots, use both JU87 as well as FW 190.

It’s interesting, I realized I slowly started to fly like this (after countless battles and failures) all by myself, with fighters.

I suppose watching real life videos (I love old planes, they’re pretty) helped a bit in me starting to mimic what I saw over time.

I still do the climb then sharp dive with bombers, thought. I like going a bit slower with them to align my target better…

I still need practice.

That 190 literally delivers the same load as a stuka in half the travel time.

Yeah, but no cool siren sound so it’s 0/10.

True.

At least it can do jackhammer noises.

I would like to remove the Stuka siren that lets enemy fighters know where I am.

There’s one big icon over you. If they are close enough to hear your siren, they surely can see this icon too.

Nah,The sound is heard even before the icon is visible.

Every FW on this game are bugged since years but they don’t care about this
