I’ve done that intentionally in WT, never tried it here. The idea, at least the one I had, was that if you face the right side of your tank toward the enemy, the engine block is between incoming fire and your driver. Never 90 degrees, though it would require more extreme angling than you’d normally use.
Yep, that is partly true and I’ve seen that happening but you are ignoring the fact that Axis equip is underwhelming and it also a part of the problem why people switch sides or dont play for a certain faction.
Agree to disagree on equip part. People taking tank slots is somewhat fine cause some of them are hopefully learning how to play and you cant do it if you are not using tanks. But yeah passive players is an issue both in attack and defend situations… (Look at me mama ama sniper, oh shite why are we losing all da time…)
I would say any game mode as axis on Tunisia is bad period. These guys don’t play on point, utilize engineers, or really understand that to win you’re gonna die a few times.
Agreed. In the 10 or so hours I’ve had with Allies in Tunisia the vast majority of my kills are with bolt actions (mainly the SMLE) and the m1 carbine (which is terrible at range, requiring 2 rounds to down someone beyond 25 yards).
I rarely use SMGs just because they’re often useless at the range firefights take place and I do fine with rifles in CQC.
Axis just depends on a camp play style too much. It’s super easy to outflank tanks and det charge them when the infantry are camped out in buildings and the infantry are dumb easy to slaughter when all of their focus is in windows pointing outward.
Axis will straight up camp in a building with no one covering the entrances and no fortifications built.
I mean this is true, I’ve had alot of experiences IRL with Nazis in the states. Never good times.
What doesn’t help is the myth that “the bulk of Whermacht didn’t know that Hitler was doing genocides” has been disproven many times.
To add to that it seems like Axis has the majority of console players, allies in Tunisia maybe get 1 or 2 per a match but axis can have up to 4 or 5 and at the minimum it seems to be 3.
Many of them seem to have cringey neo Nazi user names too.
I don’t get in tanks, I murder them, so I just don’t touch the armor. All tanks end up looking the same to me because they all explode when a det pack is set on their hatch or under them.
The only time I’ve noticed an issue with tanks is when the damn AT guns don’t do damage against them.
As far as weapon imbalances: everyone starts off with the best guns in the game, the one shot kill bolt actions. So long as you’re faster, more aware, and hitting what you shoot at you’ll down anyone in one shot in CQC. It’s not as easy as spamming an SMG, but a player that just runs this game like call of duty is just gonna get domed by a skilled rifle user most times.
Axis tanks suck against infantry because every tank sucks against infantry when it just assumes it’s an invincible weapon platform.
The bane of tanks is infantry, it’s very simple to out maneuver axis tanks because they all assume they’re a crack armor officer commanding an unstoppable killing machine when in reality they’re like 5 dudes in a metal box.
Axis doesn’t ever coordinate it’s infantry movements with it’s tanks and it’s tanks are either camping or playing like they’re in wherabro self insert fan fiction.
Daimler sucks unless you like getting OHKilled by anything. A13 is allrounder and better. More ammo, better pleb bugged DM and engine is good enough.
If you wanna get rid off your commander just say it.
Compare this to the A13.
Hell all Tunisian models are buggy (except Daimler but only because its so small) and spongy AF to a point where even the 75mm of the Grant isnt reliable.
Chargers are pretty reliable though.
No, no. Tunisia Axis tanks ARE weak against infantry, period.
The AB41, despite the buggy armor making it more of a threat for enemy tanks, is lackluster against infantry because both the 20mm and the coax MG have small clips and relatively long reload time. 20mm will sometimes even take 2 hits to kill a soldier; with the MG you basically need to snipe because you just don’t have enough ammo at a time to provide suppression. Also, visibility is poor because there is no commander station.
The M14 still has the same poor MG, while HE shells of the main gun have little filler and need to hit very close, and the main gun reload is not that fast.
And the Semovente is plain meme material, since it LACKS both MG and HE shells.
EDIT: the APCBC of the Semovente has enough explosive to kill some infantry; unfortunately it’s also very slow. It’s even harder to avoid succumbing to detpacks.
I wonder if this is because these vehicles weren’t meant to be hard counters against infantry but rather force multipliers for infantry and counters to other tanks.
As I say alot on this forum, tanks are meant for infantry support, not a hard counter for infantry.
It costs nothing to spawn as a tank aside from a commute to work and back for ammo. They should be just as vulnerable to threats as infantry are.
Don’t wanna get det packed? Don’t push without a squad, especially in an environment with buildings.
Want to rack up infantry kills? You should probably get out of your tank.
I’m actually enjoying the Axis in Tunisia as they have some weapons I really like.
Beretta M1 smg I really like.
Breda . 30 is a nice mg.
M14/41 is a powerful tank unless you have to face a Grant.
I actually find them more competitive than most Allied teams in Normandy
While I absolutely 100% agree with this, I don’t agree with the absolutely disgusting magazine size of the italian coax guns compared to the brits. People complain in all campaigns about tanks, yet even a Jumbo or a Panther is an easy kill once you slap a detpack near them. While none of the tanks in Tunisia are really great, the Allies have a clear advantage in supporting their infantry (as mowing down enemy infantry focused on your teammates is part of the infantry support role), because of their massive magazines. Meanwhile with the Axis tanks you spend ~60% of your time reloading your MG watching as the enemy annihilates everyone trying to advance.
Gray zone disagrees lol. Jokes aside, the coax mg won’t save any tank in a vulnerable position from anyone. Compared to the italians many other tanks have 10 times the magazine size for their coax, yet you see them detpacked constantly (funnily enough, this is the case with the allied tanks in Tunisia aswell). Overall italian tanks can only provide an insignificant amount of support to their infantry and the allied tanks are the only reason they aren’t completely useless.
Also I think the main reason people call Tunisia Axis equipment worse is because since day 1 some people said there’s no incentive to play Axis because they lack unique equipment as you can unlock most in one of the other campaigns, so I think they misunderstood.
I could see this being a good case for a buff for magazine sizes on certain vehicles, I wouldn’t be super against that. I have no interest in making tanks more lethal but I’d take that over them being unkillable.
As far as axis equipment in Tunisia I feel like it’s similar to Moscow in that you may have been meant to play Moscow/Tunisia before Normandy/Berlin so you can transfer equipment/troops.
