AT guns should be moveable

AT guns being able to turn in a 360 degree circle and/or move at a slower to moderate pace would help them become a more viable Anti-Tank option. Right now you have to anticipate paths of tanks, build an AT gun and hope no enemy/ tank is near to stop you. The ability to build it from say behind a house roll it out to engage a Tank then roll it back to relative safety would be a welcomed addition to the game imo. I do believe a slow roll should be used however as you could then get people rolling them up to HE the shit out of an objective.

yes and no, even if it would be a welcome addition if we wanted to point out even if we could move the AT-GUNs would be less and less effective than my engineer with the TNT, the current conception of the Battles moreover makes it useless to be able to move them would still be slower than the soldiers and tanks and it would not change the fact of always having to build them with a lot of distance from the battle to use them, but at least if they move we could make 360 no scope even with AT-GUN

I think the ability to rotate them to adjust the arc of fire would suffice. Moving them around would probably cause more issues with collision and terrain than benefits, or else the movement would look very “fake”.

We don’t want to see a single guy pulling an AT gun up and down D-day’s steep slopes, do we?

True and agreed. Turning would have made my life a lot easier last night on Vysokovo Invasion…

  • built AT gun on road to 3rd CP
  • enter AT gun
  • line up sights with approaching BT-7
  • friendly Panzer rolls behind me and clips my “legs”, spinning me around to have a perfect firing line on a bunch of logs

WTF I didn’t think it was even possible for tanks to spin around operative AT guns in game.

Yeah you can move AT guns with tanks.

At least rotating them, just for the reason of friendly tanks running into it, yeah that would be nice.

Sounds very familiar…

Oh and look @Serpiko82 ! It also has a solution of your problem of one man towing AT gun!

Jokes aside, I’m glad that more people want it.

Also

If I remember correctly Pak 36 was quite liked by the troops for it’s anti-infantry performance.

100 percent correct. I was thinking more in gameplay balance than historical accuracy, but it is awesome to see that people have thought of this before and pushing for it. Enlisted as a pretty awesome community I must say.

Well, it was written when all we had was CBT Moscow, AT guns were quite powerful there. I wonder what happened to them, I have seen maybe one since OBT.

I think their relative rarity isn’t due to ineffectiveness. Probably, a lot of players just don’t have a dedicated engineer squad in their lineup, because they are currently leveling up other squads or for other reasons.

Good idea. To move them, they could simply implement multiple “seats” in the AT gun, just like tanks. You would need your fellow AI bots to move/rotate the canon, wich would look better than a single chad just “picking” up the gun and placing it elsewhere.

The move function could get disabled if there’s not enough “crewmen” in the AT, or simply if none occupy the “move” seat.

I think the problem is that they are only useful against tanks and then only if a tank happens to enter your firing arc.

Also they have to be manned by a squad and few players find it enjoyable just sitting in a static location waiting for a tank to show up. I know I dont … Same with AAA guns but at least AA guns can also be effective against infantry.

If the guns had a built in AI crew to operate it then I think you would see more of them being built …

the problem is in the map in those 50m between you and the tank you blow it up with the tnt not with AT-GUN if the maps were bigger they would certainly work

Ohohoh, wroooong!
He shells on advancing troops you predicted their path is devastating. Just as good as a tank HE shells. I mean, doing so made me best engineer of the game. Every time! To think I placed it to ambush upcoming tanks… I love HE.

I hate them for the plane
Normandy flashback of beign killed in the church by nearby plane

They should be able to build on any surface of any degree, as long as not too steep
