Variety is fine, but it is better that armored cars stand near the respawn, like cars.
While it is always nice to have more toys to play with, I have to question the gameplay value of armoured cars with weak guns. Why would I, or any player, pick an armoured car instead of a tank? Or even an infantry squad? The real life advantages of these (better performance on roads, easier maintenance, cheaper to make) don’t mean anything ingame. I do like the Puma, though. Because of it’s speed, I can use it as an impromptu APC and zip to and from lightly defended objectives on conquest mode. But I wouldn’t play it , if it didn’t have that nice gun. In fact, I would much prefer to have actual APCs in the game.
Just like the armoured cars you describe, they couldn’t duke it out with tanks. But on the upside, they can carry a full infantry squad, instead of just a small crew without any specialist gear.
i disagree.
for a few reasons.
the first one being that almost no one can play them as they Do not respawn .
so they can be throwed away because someone use them as a transport vehicle more than what they should be used for.
another factor is, a way for developers to earn on it, it’s through customization. and grind.
so people eventually pay to get them because at some point they will be a campaign level. and as previously mentioned, customization.
there are alot of people ( me included ) that are willing to buy for some cosmetic options such as fuel cans, flags, helmets, masks and yada yada yada. you know, more money for the title.
and lasty, people can decide to use them effectively whenever they feel like with just a limiter of two vehicles.
perhaps 2 halftracks, and 1 armored car.
in order to balance things out.
Yeah, and buy a slot for it, so that it makes at least some sense
No, of course you can make Heroes and Generals,I don’t mind, but that’s not it.
At least there bots are called bots
because as said before, tanks are clunky for some maps.
armored cars excell there because they are mobile mgs. provides good fire power again infantry and of course, they have to look out from tanks.
but that’s the main idea. be faster and support the infantry. this is more noticable in berlin and some of the map of moscow and normandy.
another reason to use halftracks is to transport more troops. ( up to 10 ) instead of the opel blitz.
that’s the main idea. and yes, that’s why a squad specilized for that would and could work.
i made an older example:
( it’s somewhat outdated since we weren’t aware of the puma being an actual tank ) nor that upgrade trees could had selective/multiple options.
bots?
what does that have to do with what we are discussin
Then, again, you need to do, as in heroes and generals, add personal transport, armored cars, apc, flaks at truck and other.
you don’t.
enginners can already build AA and they got buffed from before.
trucks and cars are already present, and more of them are yet to come placed on the map ( based on what devs said )
Well, the files are full of anti-aircraft guns on trucks
(2-3)xD
yeah, those eventually will be added.
not sure how though.
because they can furfill the same role as anti air and anti aircraft.
but, according to war thunder, the Sdkfz 222 it’s an anti aircraft scout car.
so, as said, 2 halftracks and 1 specilized role fighting vehicle.( i think )
what I “could” imagine, armored cars being limited to just one per team and then splitting said car into 2 groups:
-
very light armored vehicle with just a machine gun- needs to be possible to take out the vehicle easily by infantry tho.
-
better armored light vehicle with even less firepower, working as a troop transport/support vehicle, with the main job of bringing your teammates troops to the frontline, basically working as a taxi for your team.
those 2 “could” make sense, however the maps are small, and placing spawn radios sounds to be more effective than wasting one entire squad that could be playing the objective instead.
and light armored vehicle as an infantry support unit, sounds like something that would definitely have “abusive potential” ( ppl riding in cars behind tanks, doing TNT and then dropping off behind enemy lines to spawncamp etc)
So I guess, I just dont see the benefit of adding them in general, but I could be wrong ofc.
The m8 is not the lv 10 usa tank on normandy?
Ah yes i confuse them but the greyhound is not in game if i watched correctly
Anti-aircraft guns are terrible now, and such a machine would be more effective against aviation and infantry.
In War Thunder, anti-aircraft guns could destroy tanks like?
Yes m 8 it is tank and armored car
Ok, now you are talking about halftracks, though. I can’t think of a single WW2 example of an armoured car, that is usable as a troop carrier. Without that functionality they would just be a mobile machine gun. And tanks already provide that and more. The added mobility isn’t much of an advantage on most of these small maps, with some exceptions. Basically I would have to know ahead of time, which map and mode I am playing for armoured cars to be an attractive option.
As with everything else
transport vehicles in normandy and moscow are usable so i think they will be essential when they combine all the small maps of a campaign to move the infantry
even in the main thread speaks about halftracks.
that’s the point. there should be different squads for different specializations.
like, recon battalion that has scout cars,
anti air regiment with AA trucks/whatever,
and mechanized infantry with transporation vehicles.
it’s quite simple.
the m3?
the sdkfz rad?
the russian beefy armored car having 5 sits with a cannon on the back?
they can still be used as transport, but that’s not their main priority.
that’s the main point, innit?
yes, and no.
yes, they can do that, but they are slower and clunky.
that’s why more variety does not hurt.
and after all, people can bring what the want. they are not forced to use them.
i can name lots of maps that could benefict from those armored cars.
you kinda use them like a puma, peak, shoot, and relocate.
that’s basically how armored cars works.
not necessarely. just like tank and planes for non premium people, you adapt your self.
learn new strategies, and in the meanwhile, you gain experience.
