I could not finde the picture and notes I’m referring to. But it showed a British mosquito shoot at with a 37 mm gun for tests in 1943. The hole structure was blown out, they wrote down it would be fatal in air combat and that these German guns are brutal. And here is the point! They also wrote that this would even make a lot of damage to the better armored and havy American planes. So it is in kind a generalizations but this supports what I mean with “British planes were build lighter and could be destroyed faster”
Ok but the Mosquito was unique in that it was almost compleately made out of wood. That was like it´s whole thing. I don´t think the Spitfire, Hurricane or Tempest where made almost compleately out of wood. Also I don´t care wich plane you´re flying, if a 37mm hits you directly you´re toast. The 37mm of the BF110 shreds everything, your american plane can be as armored as it wants to be but it´s not gonna look pretty after it´s been hit. The Soviet 37mm aren´t nearly as good though.

Planes in general need to be nerfed to AA and other aircraft gunfire
As I wrote, the englisch high command them self wrote, the Americans planes wer more armored and would not be that highly damaged by the hit. This stands in the originals source and I do not discuss about what the wrote in 1943.
Good for you. I haven´t seen them write anything like that and I already have my doubts so I´m obviously not gonna believe that.
