In reality the BF 110 was also designed as an Zerstörer (Heavy Fighter plane) which primary role was the destruction of other planes and later received a lot of other roles.
The point is: In this game the P38 as well as the Bf110 serve as attackers and thus fill that place. Theres only one thing people which take offense with this gameplay decision can do: deal with it.
If anyone gets annoyed by a P38 occupying the bomber slot when he would have a better plane in store then all he can do is ask politely if he would make room. Otherwise it’s pretty much the same with seeing Pumas/Stuarts around when you would have a Jumbo/Panther available: its part of the game.
Then why does the P-38J-15 take the fighter slot? One of the two P-38s are bugged, one way or the other. Personally I think the Lighting in game should be a fighter strictly based on the payload, but that is besides the point. One P-38 takes the attacker slot, the other takes the fighter slot, therefore something is incorrect.
Yeah in that case its weird since also think P38J-15 is an hvy fighter and same class as its little brother. Must be some sort of balance reason or they just missed out on something
True, but the P-47 is a long range escort fighter (At least it was designed as one), and is an attacker, so these labels applied to planes are basically worthless. It should be balanced on payload and by which squad they are in, as that would the most sense. It’s probably a bug as the Bf 110 in Moscow also has a similar bug where it counts as a fighter, but is in the attacker slot.
