An open letter to the devs from the community

Thankfully you fight in corridors so the only thing you’re truly missing out on is post-pen.

Idk why no one understands this, but the Soviet and German SMGs are both better at different things. PPS/PPDs are good at close range bullet hosing but really lose out at mid range. The MPs and MP3008 specifically are good at close to even long range if you fire in semi-auto.

The equipment has absolutely nothing to do with the losses. Hell the planes themselves the Germans get are so insanely disgustingly overpowered that I’m surprised that I don’t see the Germans do better than @18777203 or I when we bomb a soviet team in such a way that Khe Sanh looks like childs play.

It’s entirely on the teams and buffing their already great equipment to try and make up for the lack of skill will kill the game for anyone who doesn’t want a wehraboo pve point and click adventure.

This is what it feels like whenever I see people bring the differences up.

I disagree, the last main update we got was full of new content even out of the new 12 (Moscow and Normandy)+30 (Berlin) for the campaigns.
The problem with it was that it was mostly content behind pay wall or content at very high ranks of the game where most players aren’t yet.

We got 16 premium squads + 30 premium only levels in the last update while getting 12 free levels…

As result of it you haven’t seen a lot of difference between before and after the update, only difference for me was new maps.

I haven’t seen more than handful of new premium squads in the game and 0 of the new content from the free levels.

The last update was just too focused on adding premium squads that were very limited and rare at the end of the day so they haven’t changed anything…

Road map would be nice but gaijin won’t do it for kinda understandable reasons…

It doesn’t make sense at all. How stupid Germans are to develop 7.92 * 33 for years if 9 * 19mm are good at LONG ranges?

I’d personally like roadmaps and daily updates on what they got done for the day with the game
Or office updates liike “pavel tripped and it was pretty funny”
Idk
Something to break up the radio silence at least.

Should I really answer it?

GAME≠REAL LIFE

Oh I’m not saying it’s better than the StG at range, it’s just better than the slav SMG at range.
StG still absolutely takes the cake for plinking at mid to long.

Am I asking you? Interesting.

You are putting it on the forums so yeah… Everyone can and should say what they got to say If it isn’t offensive or already been said…

Resuming: You want more campaing levels because you have played like a nolifer for the past months and now that you have no more content its time that something is being added, cool. What about enjoying the game meanwhile and wait until they release more content, like I dont know, They just released Berlin, like wtf bro. It requieres a lot of time to add things to the game, fix stuff, etc,etc

There is no communication with the english forum from the devs because it is not deserved, posting nonsense, biased stuff, and no respecting different opinions, sometimes reminds me like a jungle full of chimps. There is an anarchy and some of you are lucky it is this way actually, otherwise you would be banned.

Forum is crying 24/7 about the same things over and over, arty blah blah. It got nerfed, and its not that bad, there is a lot of aoe in this game, grenades for example are “op” aswell then, I dont see anybody complaining about it. At least arty hurts teamates, and you can avoid it. Like, Idk, if you die just press whatever key you have binded to switch to another soldier and problem solved, seriously its in all the games the same, people get bored or suck at the game and start to complaing about whatever is the mainstream. What I mean is, if you like the game arty is not a problem by any means, nor I find it that annoying.

What " game breaking stuff" are you talking about, like there is literally nothing that is ruining the game, there are some bugs yeah, but I dont think they are game breakers, this is not like a competitive game with ranks and stuff.

In fact, the most game breaking bugs are 2, and they are never talked about in this forum, which shows how intelligent are the common posters of this forum. And they are: the bug that you can see trough objects and the other is the hitboxes on actually many objects, not gona mention them. About this people never complain, and they should be the priority actually, people only complain about arty  like if they will have more fun if its nerfed.

And no, hahah, the game wont “die” just because you say so, hilarius. Just because you stop playing doesnt mean it will die lol so egocentric, the game will keep adding stuff and here we will be the players that love the game.

ok this can be explained by the players/bots fighting no further than 300 meters

top of my list here.

also detailed status updates on squad ai. it’s supposed to be the most “unique” feature of this game from other fps, but is in such a terrible state I have to wonder if they will ever get it working correctly.

It’s not merely post-pen that you miss out on the IVJ, but also armor protection and high explosive yield vs infantry. While I realize tanks in general have issues, it doesn’t change the fact that when driving the IVJ, you will struggle to penetrate the T-34-85’s even when you are given a positive penetration indicator or aim your shots, meanwhile in return, T-34-85’s do not struggle to penetrate and destroy IVJ’s. High explosive yield vs infantry is a more obvious point, as you’re rarely dealing with situations where the rate of fire difference is preferred over the higher amount of explosives and thus explosive radius the T-34-85 offers in comparison.

The point to SMGs is for close quarters capability in the first place. I give my assaulters bolt action secondary weapons to handle long range. The time it takes to switch weapons is more than made up by the increase in effectiveness.

The issue with the MP.3008 is twofold. The poor sights and higher horizontal recoil / bullet deviation, effects it quite negatively in regards to actual long range shooting, despite the lower vertical recoil.
Compare to the PPS42, which while has higher vertical recoil, is more predictable, and thus manages to do better at mid ranges. Thus the main statistical advantage is negated. I’m not saying I can’t make it work, and it’s a decent gun for hipfire. But I’d take the PPS42 over the MP.3008 any day, for any situation, and at any range of fighting.

Lolno other than the turret

They’re almost equal with the 75 being slightly behind but still great

No, that’s entirely you. Unless you shoot the driver’s port or the rounded top and bottom of the turret you’re going to pen 100% of the time. Turret ring is your best bet if you aren’t 100% sure.
@LegoProdigy @18777203 @47509533 and I all run the PzIV J in Berlin with AccidentProne and I choosing it over the Panther and do absolutely fine. GI actually giga thwacks T-34s left and right with it with an average of like 7 T-34s destroyed a match.

PzIV actually has a black hole on the driver’s port btw
Other than that and the aforementioned hardpoints on the T-34 neither tank has any issue penetrating and crippling the other.

And I just switch the MP3008 or PPSh-41 to semi-auto and go to town with a much larger pool of ammo thanks to my ammo bags.

The tin snip sights are great imo

???
I haven’t noticed anything liike that at all I love the damn thing and prefer it to both the MP-40 and MP-35. I don’t use any of the recoil perks on anything btw.

PPS actually has a fat front post and the muzzle flash making mid to long range shooting much more difficult . Recoil is absolutely controllable on both so that’s not really an issue on either side.
I’d take the MP due to the sheer versatility. PPS I hated from the get go.

What are you talking? Jumbo is worse than the late german tanks. Its really hard to destroy anything fast that isnt puma.

60mm @ 45 degrees vs 80mm @ 0 degrees. Yes, the T-34-85 has better hull armor, even in comparison to gun penetration values. My main issue is how much my rounds bounce despite having a green penetration indicator, which I admittedly rely on unless I’m at close range. Also, on Berlin, I’ve found most of the time I’m shooting at other tanks over various wrecks in the streets that are clutter, thus I can’t aim at the hull in the first place and it’s a hull-down matchup. (which wouldn’t really be any better for other tanks you might include for the germans, but it’s still a disadvantage.)

And yes, the MP.3008 has higher horizontal spread in both my 3, 2, and single round burst tests on the practice range, bullet deviation is at around 8 MoA vs 5 MoA for the PPS42 in the single round tests. Horizontal recoil in the multiple round burst tests were also larger by roughly 20%. Which is odd, seeing as they have the same horizontal recoil values on the stat cards, but I tested each thrice.

Also, I prefer the PPS’ sights, call me weird if you must. While worse for truly long range shooting, close-to-mid range the more open nature of the sight, and the open sides of the post make it easier to line up shots. (and long range, as mentioned, it’s better just to switch to a bolt action) Muzzle flash doesn’t really affect me either. (nor has it in other games where people complain about the muzzle flash of a gun. Or most IRL guns I’ve shot that I know people complain about the amount of flash from, for that matter, so that point of muzzle flash not being a variable is a /me/ thing, in all probability.)

Although I agree with you in many points, it seems to me you’re just impatient. And I’m not trying to offend you, just the opposite, but maybe you’re very young too.
You know how many games Gaijin has out right now, from my favourite except this one - War Thunder, then Naval battles, strategies, some licensed games, all the way to space adventures, etc…
All that games are taking much of their time, resources, and manpower, you see that, obviously.
So off course your letter and questions are good and viable; I’d like to know the answers too. I’d like to see that “map”, cause since the first time I saw War Thunder I thought about the game in which EVERY piece of the army will be implemented, from that poor enlisted grunt to pilot of a last gen WW2 airplane.
Just like you, I see this game as one big sandbox that COULD very well take much more of my time, but for now… meeh… I play it, but just like you and everyone else - can’t wait for next update.
The questions people are asking themselves vary from will there be an army dossier for your main character in campaign, saved replays, some kind off military ranked based history with medals, even missions, possibility to fight in Clan wars, etc… etc… everything other games already have…

I’d just want to propose patience. Do people leave the game? I don’t know, but even if they do they’ll come back if Gaijin makes the complete game that will act and play like some other WW2 games that are out there; don’t want to name anything.
As I see it, if they decide to throw their resources and make this game the first one of that kind where your team of 4 or 5 friends will have the option to play as totally different part of the same army - it will be great. If not - someone else will, don’t worry. Meanwhile - play for enjoyment, and have patience. And if you don’t enjoy - play something else and just wait.
All the best

the T-34’s armour is better because it is sloped and is able to deflect shots - even when shots aren’t deflected, the angle of the armour is such that the shell has to work harder to penetrate
this really doesn’t matter since both the Pz.IV J and the Panther can go right through the T-34, unless you’re doing something stupid like shooting the gun barrel/turret cheeks/clicking whenever you see green - but you wouldn’t do that, would you?
