What do I mean by this? Well in Invasion on certain maps, anything past the current defense objective is a dark zone, meaning you will die for going out of bounds. This is fine for infantry, but artillery cannot be called in this zone either, meaning you cannot call artillery on the enemy anywhere, except behind or on the objective, which means you’re either bombing your own guys, or the objective itself, which you need to be on. This makes Artillery virtually useless on certain maps in Invasion modes, which isn’t really great. Obviously calling it on enemy spawn isn’t fair, but it would be nice to use it to slow the enemy’s advance.
No, artillery shouldn’t be able to bomb enemy spawns that are not that far in the dark zone.
I don’t know what invasion maps you are talking about because I always have place behind the objective to call artillery without hurting my team.
I agree, that spawn protection is important, however,
Some invasions such as Le Bre ruins are not giving defenders any space beyond the cap while spawn is over 100m away anyway as always. That means every artillery defenders can call lands straght on the point and thus doing far more damage to your own team than the enemy. As result, artillery in those invasions is pretty much useless.
I think that “artillery in dark zone request” is a bit unlucky one, instead OP should be asking for Dark zone not taking so much space in those invasions. Or “Dark zone” should be split between “grey” and “dark” where in grey zone it is possible to land artillery, and dark zone is spawn protection area.
Or just that few maps should be slightly reworked to not cause problems.
That would be much easier and potentialy less problematic.
Maps are already there and working, what is problematic, is dark zone placement that takes too much space away from defenders…
No additional work on maps would then be required, I believe that moving dark zone a bit further away from cap would be easier than “extending” or reworking the map.
That’s what I’m talking about. They should rather adjust dark zone placement instead of allowing to call artillery in it.
It is easier to give slight change to one map istead of making artillery even more abusable. Especially when we can see how their fixes “work” sometimes - for example removing Ale spawn protection, not only on rally points
Yeah, I agree on this one.
While OP probably have a good intentions, calling artillery through dark zone would affect all maps and thus it would just lead to abusing.
Spawn is one thing and should be protected, whole dark zone is another.
One member, don’t remember the name, had a brilliant idea with spawn lines, which is same as lots of spawn points near each other, where game would randomly put you somewhere on it. You would never know where the enemy will spawn exactly.
Who knows how many times I heard an enemy mortar shooting behind the house in dark zone and you cant arty it. Then you take an SMG guy, run as fast as you can and try to kill it before the dark zone kills you.
There you are, thanks for your help
True, idea with spawnline instead of spawnpoints was a great suggestion.
And that is again known mortar issue. Its mortar who should be forced OUT of the dark zone instead of allowing players to call artillery on things inside it.
Yeah, it is a problematic one to deal with. But I think this would require them to decrease dark zones, because of current state they are on some maps.
Fortified District for example, side with bunker. Whole trench line above the bunker is quite limited with darkzone.
^ This + artillery are annoying as it is already, and i think it need longer cooldown.
In some matches the enemy team have like 2-3 artillery teams, and we are getting absolutely hammered / shaken all the time, and we cant hit anything.
Its too much.
On the other hand, this is exactly what are defenders of Le Bre going through every single time without an option to fire back with their own artillery. Dark zone seriously needs to be moved further away from the cap.
This constant artillery spam combined to 2 tanks, plane & that 1 guy who just loves to spam mortar.
Super fun times.
Thank you for remembering me

I am an IT consultant and my professional deformation is to remember good ideas and work on them in conjunction with other issues
This is the solution.
