Back with another aircraft suggestion post because aircraft TT in Enlisted is a mess.
As far as I know, there are currently two nations in Enlisted without a proper BR4 attacker: USSR and Japan. (Ki-83 IS ANYTHING BUT AN ATTACKER, EVEN WITH THE ATTACKER ROLE.)
As for the Axis, they have two BR4 attackers, but one of them is essentially a BR3 aircraft that has been uptiered to BR4, and it does not perform well in that environment.
The Allies are currently the only nation with a relatively complete BR4 attacker lineup. (Although A-20 variants being at BR4 is another problem imo, but that’s not the topic of this discussion.)
I think it would be beneficial to add more BR4 frontline bombers to fill the gaps in the aircraft TT of most nations.
Here are my picks:
USSR
Pe-2-359
Details:
[Pe-2-359 | War Thunder Wiki]
Overview:
A late-war variant of Pe-2 series. It’s an excellent high-speed bomber with good overall performance.
The relatively weak offensive armament could be a drawback for Enlisted players, but its speed and bomb load should make it a suitable BR4 frontline bomber.
Payload: 4×250 kg FAB-250M-43 bombs
Axis
Do 217 E-4
Details:
[Do 217 E-4 | War Thunder Wiki]
Overview:
A well-known medium bomber used by Luftwaffe.
Do 217 E-4 has a fixed MG 151/20 as its offensive armament and good defensive firepower.
The main drawback of Do 217 E-4 is its relatively low speed, which could become an issue in the BR4 environment. (Still faster than B-25J that garbage tho)
Payload: 4×250 kg SC250JA bombs
Japan
Ki-49-IIb/L Donryu
Details:
[Ki-49-IIb/L | War Thunder Wiki]
Overview:
The desperately needed frontline bomber for Japan.
It lacks dedicated offensive armament, but who cares about that when you have Death Star-level defensive firepower and enough agility to out-turn some fighters?
Jokes aside, the Ki-49-IIb/L would fill the long missing gap in Japan’s aircraft lineup.
Payload: 4×250 kg Army Type 92 GPHE bombs
All three aircraft already exist in War Thunder and could fill a significant gap in their respective nations’ BR4 aircraft lineups.
More importantly, they would provide each nation with a proper frontline bomber option at BR4, giving players more variety instead of forcing them to rely on aircraft that are either poorly suited to the role or awkwardly placed at their current BR.
Any suggestions are welcomed
