Ive got a couple of these legacy 9man rifleman squads sitting in my inventory, and ill be honest — Ive basically stopped using them. In a game where the Engineer decides whether your squad can actually do its job, a paid squad that can’t field one is just worse than the free Liu squad. I paid for something that’s now the objectively weaker option.
And I want to be clear about what Id actually support here, because I think “Change Class” button proposal is the genuinely smart solution to this whole mess. It keeps the squad at 9 men, so there’s no 11man balance nightmare. It lets the --player— pick which soldiers to convert, so the devs never have to touch anyone’s data or decide “which soldier gets deleted” for us. Perks are universal, so nothing breaks. And crucially, it doesn’t alter what we originally paid for — the squad composition stays exactly as we bought it, just with the option to specialize. Every other approach either creates an 11-man squad or deletes soldiers people paid for. This one sidesteps all of it.
If that’s somehow still too much for the current code to handle, then fine — I’m also the guy who would happily buy the upgraded versions if they got re-released with an Engineer and an AT Gunner. I don’t love the idea of paying twice, but I’d rather have a usable squad than hold a grudge.
What I can’t get behind is the silence. The solution has been sitting right here in this thread, fully worked out, for months. And yet old squads keep rotting while we get nothing but radio silence. That’s not a technical limitation — thats a choice. And it’s a choice that punishes the players who actually supported this game with their wallets, people like me who are literally standing here saying ill pay again if I have to." If you won’t even respond to ‘that“, who exactly are you making these squads for?
