Until the Game dosnt have much to do with the true world war 2 anymore!
I think the best option to make most players happy would be a seperated game mode seperated from merge, some Enlisted prototypes and cold war stuff can still make fun to play in Merge!
I made a Suggestion about this before a long time but with much less idears and less precise!

Reasons to ad the more Historical Game Mode
Bring back Immersion!
And bring Gamers back who miss more historical Game play what existed by the old Campaigne modes!
It could make more players Happy when there would be more game modes!
Some players arent fans of Jets, if you make it more historical then the number jets would be often
reduced or even removed it depends on the time period and front obviously!
If the Squads and units are mostly pre- selected the Game play could be changed to create maybe a slower gameplay if not every soldier for example carries a FG42 what was a really rare rifle in ww2!
Many Gamers complain about to many explosions in the Game if the squads are mostly pre selected
then the amount of radio soldiers could be reduced and controlled!
New Players could get opportunity to test high BR stuff bettter!
If the stuff is more pre-selected you can get a more Casual gameplay.
Other Fronts could be explored like Norway , and Finnland and Battle of France 1940,s.
Even world WW1 could be explored there was even a ewnt before!
Or Conflicts beetwen both World Wars like Spanish Civil War, Second Sino-Japanese War, Russian Civil War things that maybe dont have a place in merge!
Some Vehycles and aircraft what arent much used in Merge can get more use if the context is changed
examples , Marder,s Stugs and Tank destroyers ,Hs 129 b-3 aircraft.
If a point system is involved it could easy be done , like in the Enlisted WW1 Event to get a Ticket for a Tank you needed enough game points to use a vehycle like in the ww1 event examples A7V or Schneider Tank!

I know to creat 100% Historical authenticity is most likely impossible to make, but i think more like 75-
90% would be possible.
If time and specific fronts are taken in account , example Pacific equipment stays in the pacific.
In practice
I think best option, to stay authentical and historical would be work best with most pre selected squads.
I think a in game point system like in the Enlisted WW1 Event would be best to get tickets for better squads like, exmaples PPSh41 squad in Stalingrad with maybe 1500 points and a german higher Br, mg,s squads for maybe a simillar amount of points.
Vehycles and aircraft could be get with the same point system
For Example battles arround Berlin 1945
If the player would achieve maybe 700 points he could get maybe weaker Tanks like a Panzer 4, if the player achive 1000 points he maybe could get a spawn ticket for a Nashorn Tank destroyer,
by 1500 points Tiger 1 or Panther, 1700 Jagd-Panther 2000 points Tiger 2.
Or for soviet Players just as Example for 1200 points a ticket for a T 34. 85 mm and for 1800n points a IS 2 1944 Tank!

The Big 4 =USA + UK, Axis, Soviets , Japan .
If its not to much at one time and it dosnt get boring thats is the reason for seasons!
The 1-3 First Games should be long total to the big 4!

How to balance the factions?
I think of the Big 4 Japan would be the biggest problem without prototypes and things that where never used it would be end badly for Japan very fast!
Method 1 Cherry pick the engagement
Where both enemy factions are very similar !
Method 2 asymmetrical balancing.
For example in the late North African campaign
The Axis could get a Early Tiger 1 BR4 but the UK + USA get a A 20 Havoc Bomber BR4!
The axis stronger ground forces the allies better Air Forces!
I think in the Early pacific war Japan vs USA
Japan could get better aircraft like the Zero
Usa could get weaker aircraft like Wildcats and Brewster F2A Buffalo.
But the USA could get better Tanks .
Method 3
Non Equal Terrain Landscape
Late war Pacific
For Example the USA getting the better stuff (better Equipment)!
Japan gets the better terrain to defend for example Bunkers, Barb wire , rivers , Mg and AT and AA , sand bags.

Method 4
Dont balance it
Make a under dog bonus
The weaker ( Under Dog) Faction get higher rewards , even higher rewards for better performance.
For example if a lesser equiped Japanese soldier with arisaka BR 1 rifle kills multyple US soldiers who have a BR3 M1 Garand rifle then it should be higher rewarded!
Maybe even medals or something similar should be given!
Are there enough players?
If its addvertises rightly more players would come
I think some Game modes who need less players could be the solution.
Maybe a survive a time mode?
1 side hase 5 players who hase to defend a position and survive.
The opponents have maybe 2-3 players but have more bots who can be given commands,
Maybe what flank to attack?
Maybe something like a extraction Game mode what needs less real players?
Rewards
There should be a Battle Pass for it
There maybe should be extra rewards for who play the More historical and Merge!
As filler silver and many decorations and higher tickets to can play a higher squad or vehycle in the more Historical game mode.
On the end of the battle pass Gold or weapons or squads what maybe can just be used in merge!
Or order to get a weapon or Vehycle or other stuff!
Maybe some battle pass achivements can be used for the normal BP?
