Your thought on Western Allies SMG?

Honestly, yes and no. Don’t get me wrong, I feel your pain with it.

I think the main issue with it is there is literally no reason to even touch it once you get stuff like the Kiraly, which is just stupid good. It’s a meh gun, outclassed too early on to be useful

I actually really like it. I run it for funsies. Theres nothing bad about the performance. Just 20 rounds is a little meagre

Should be pretty good with BR change

Well smgs are used for short ranges

Also, the lanchester is basically a better 4 star m1a1 . The 50 round is better than the sig(best japaneses gun)

I have no problem with its sights. It can definitely be way better. However, it does not trash my performance. I used the lanchester, and the m1a1 is definitely better. The m1 I have but not use so I dunno know

Since getting the 50 round Lanchester I’ve suddenly experienced how great the Lanchester can be. The reason I never realised before was because I never bothered upgrading them to max, but the 50 round one is fully upgraded (like a Gold Order weapon) and really demonstrates how accurate and just overall effective it can be compared to other Allied SMG’s.
I was actually a bit disappointed with the Thompson, because it looks good on paper (higher hit power) yet in practice it has weird recoil which sends it randomly in different directions - which makes it unpredictable to control. Despite the Lanchester’s significantly lower power, it’s so much easier to actually hit your targets that you end up with better results than the Thompson.
The M1 Thompson obviously has better sights which don’t obstruct your view so much, and higher ROF compared to the M1A1, but it’s so much further in the campaign (Tunisia).
I find the M3 and M3A1 are quite effective despite their low ROF as you can ‘tap-fire’ them to reproduce the effect of semi-auto easily. You can also do this with the Lanchester (neither have an actual semi-auto mode).
I can’t stand the Pacific SMG ‘Reising’ - awful sights, horrendous recoil = totally bloody useless !

When I switched to playing Berlin Axis for a new challenge I immediately realised why so many people choose to play Axis - their SMG’s & MG’s are so simple & effective. Very accurate, perfect rates of fire & very controllable, and even magazines with the perfect capacity.
Don’t even get me started on how horrendously awful the US/GB Allied MG’s are (VB & Bren)… they get you killed - you’re actually better off using anything else if you want to survive.

I used the BAR A1 extensively in Normandy, and also the WAR gold weapon. I found them really good as glorified select-fire Garand. Most of the time I use them in semi-auto mode and keep the full auto for hip fire when clearing an objective and in any cqc situation. As I already played some maxed MG34 in Berlin, I can say that these weapons are clearly different. The only real MG in the US/UK is the M1919A6 (I really want to unlock this one) but it has a high level requirement.

As for the SMG, yeah the lanchester is really good because it has a good balance between damage, accuracy and rate of fire. But for real I don’t see the point of the Grease Gun, I want to use SMG for cqc, where ROF matters, and this is not where the M3s excelled at… And to be honest, I better use the Garand for any other situation, and I am not even mentioning the M2 carbine.

Worth it.

Absolutely. One of the best MGs in the game in my opinion. Don’t be discouraged by its low firerate, use it. It has very little recoil and great hitpower, making it pretty easy to set up firing positions. Ammo is a non issue as well.
