Being the hopeless nerd I am, I noticed the SMLE is a First World War model with such features at the front & rear long range “volley” sights, the early windage adjustable rear sight and the magazine cut off plate all present. All those feature were officially deleted from production in 1916 and would have been very rare if not totally extinct in front line units by WW2. I doubt it’ll be changed but my gun related OCD was triggered again!
