I had a round late last week where I had a Zero on the tail of my Mustang and he kept peppering me with fire. I was trying to shake him for what felt like 5 minutes (it was certainly shorter) and I eventually flew directly past my wingman with the idea that it might distract the Zero on my tail. He took the bait, I lined him up on the next turn around and popped his wing off with two bursts from the cannon.
Other than a dogfight where I played chicken with a Messerschmitt and barrel rolled through his fire without taking a single shot and setting his engine on fire in the process: funnest round of the game. Iâve meant to go dig and try to find that Me battle replay, but itâs lost in the shuffle at this point.
[Edit: oh, noe!! âThe replay protocol version is outdated.â Lost forever, I guess. Rats]
Some of the most fun battles Iâve had are ones where weâre getting steamrolled off the first 3 points then dig in and make a fight of it. If you desert, you miss out on every one of those. Some of those went to overtime.
But at least your tank person would thank you for it. Iâm one to say, because those planes can get reeeal annoying. But at least you dont have to deal with clouds of fightersâŚ
Yeah no doubt. I just go in with that mind set. (low expectations)
The reality I am starting to find is that most Games I am Flying, I remove 2-3 players from the game âeffectivelyââŚAs in they get really sick of being shot down or having their tank destroyedâŚso they sit in AA or anything they can to get you back. (That need for revenge matters more than everything). keeps them from playing the objectiveâŚand 9 times out of 10 they are willing to sit there all game if it means getting a shot back at you.
Once I work out they are on the hunt, I swap to the ground game and get few quick caps and win lol (you still have to swap to the ground game though, cos your team still likely wont make the most of it)
Thats cool that you are having air battles like that. All too often I just see planes pancake as soon as they have used up their payload. I am glad you are having so much fun in the skies and I think you will enjoy the later planes the allies get access to. Iâll see you in the skies.
I could use a piece of that action. But maybe I need to set it back a bit. As the whiners are already on Reddit or whatever complaining about the usual stacks, I got around. Not that I really need them. Itâs really to fill my matches, so fewer randos around just to sabotage. But they are free to drone on or whatever; I think the mods removed those posts anyway.
What do you mean? I dropped a 500 lb bomb last night on Japs and killed 38 with the bomb. Sent them all back to spawn and ground forces had a cake walk to the point. Someone marked a tank while I was rearming so I blasted it on the next run. Strafed the point until I was down to about 100 rounds and ground forces moved in. I wasnât physically on the ground to take the point, but if they mark an area, I drop a bomb on that spot. Ground forces get the hint real quick that if they spot a concentration, mark it up.
No bombers called in that round, but I absolutely DESPISE when enemy bombers get called in and our fighter pilot just noodles around in the sky, doesnât intercept them, and just lets them drop on us. Thatâs why I started doing it myself after I got the P51 and was able to effectively shoot them down.
Ooo, dont get me started on that. I just had one of those disasters recently. Where all they did was troll and not move in on the point. And some wonder why I break out the stacks thenâŚ
A touch of farming can be good if you know youâve got the game in hand. Rack up the points and get the win in the process. But we werenât playing against bots and they must have gotten cocky. I was in the sky the whole time so my view of the details was limited. That was in the Ardennes and we were playing BR3,4,5 (I shot down an Me-109 so I know for sure)
As our reinforcements were dwindling, I pointed my plane at the cap and bailed out to try and get in before time ran out, but I mistimed my jump and was too far away. Time ran out while I was still about 100 from the zone.
Nice to see that you are having a good time flying.
Itâs my favorite thing in the game too.
I have the USA tree maxed out so I use every plane I have (except AP-1 ).
Good pilots certainly can be important or even decisive in battle eventhough they are not on the ground.
Good air support can help a weak team win.
Must have been a different plane or a different game buddy, no ME-262 here.
I share with you my best result in the sky, from one year ago.
For those who say that planes dont change the outcome of the battle, please note I have not only 20 plane kills but also 14 tank crew kills with AT mines.
Iâm working on unlocking Fighter Pilot 3 right now and will be working on the Corsair pretty soon. I switched from the P38 (whichever one was the low BR2 one from Normandy Campaign) to P51D after I used a gold ticket on the âHurry Home Honeyâ Mustang. I love that plane.
Iâve tried switching it up a little bit and flying the Beauxfighter, but I donât like the thing. Iâve got all my rifles stalled at BR3 until I get those airplanes maxed lol
I really wish theyâd add a couple maps that allow for more planes in the sky. Another fighter per side would make it a lot of fun.
