Will hull machineguns ever be implemented in all tanks?

For the effect of sloped armour, it is a little complicated because of different ammo type. I do not know more data so not able give a comment for now.

For this point, I do not think explosive filler of T-34 shell is overpowered, but I agree explosive filler of Panzer IV shell is underpowered.

I always found it amusing how t34s in Warthunder and enlisted are. Face roll with their armor profiles and guns, based on the WW2 myth of the superior t34.

T34 was a good design (angles are great), but mainly because it was easy to manufacture. They produced 80,000 of them…and lost 40,000. Their losses of 1 tank type is more than all types of tanks the Germans had combined. its even more interesting when you look deeper at how many t34s were knocked out by panzer IIS, panzer III 37 mm and 37mm anti tank guns…cant do that in Warthunder lol or enlisted (well certainly not in the numbers that did)

I think of them as the Persian Immortals, kill one another immediately takes his place. (that’s the strength of the t34)

Yeah, low quality steel made during war time, and decrease of strength of armour when being hit multiple times due to metal fatigue, these are not currently implemented in this game.

Also I would love all gunner positions and hull gunners to work. Not exactly efficient but its fun trying to man vehicles with friends. Having an independent hull gunner, gunner and commander would be sick (post scriptum/hell let lose vibes). The best one in game atm is the pacific US amphibious with 2 30 cals on the back. get some friend on those and tis fun on the bun.

Tbf the thing is pretty much a less armored Sherman with marginally better speed and no turret mg and ooen roof.

The F2 and G can both frontally pen the KV. Problem is you need to be stupidly close for that, and you’re usually either drowning in ExPacks or have already been spotted and taken out by the KV by the time you even get close enough.

Panzer III 75M HEAT can kill kv 1 frontally too. through the turret ring. I take panzer III over IV every time because its better anti infantry, but still capable of taking the KV 1 down if it must. Panzer IV F2 is one of my favrouite and most used in Warthunder. I never play it in enlisted.

It’s funny how a topic about hull machineguns has become an excuse to discuss for the umpteenth time how broken the KV-1 is… must be a sore point for many of us. Which then, to be honest, the BT-7 F32 in Stalingrad is superior to every tank in the game, and is perfect as it is. To hell with KV-1 or panzer normies, 76mm go boom.

Problem is Stalingrad BT is event tank. Missed it on both PC and Xbox. Wish they’d re-rotate older event unlocks. Would be nice to try the Moscow FW189 now that tail gunners are a thing. :frowning:

Back on-topic tho, are hull MGs even usable in WT? The only tank that you can fire the hull guns on currently is the Pacific M2A4, and you can’t aim them.

Yes but usually only on vehicles without turret coaxial machine gun, such as tank destroyers which do not have a turret.

I just wish the Japanese tanks gave you the ability to rotate the gunner into the secondary MG position. Ha-Go would be infinitely more useful if you could rotate the turret around and use the rear turret MG.

Ka-Mi has working hull MG too, but its due to it having working hull MG from WT same as M2A4.

I noticed that the mechanism changes according to the campaign: with the jags you can fire the hull machinegun from the gunner’s position, in the pacific instead you can control all the weapons, both cannon and machine guns, only from the commander’s position (therefore with the M2 /3 Stuart, the Ka-Mi and the Chi-Ha Kai), which you can’t do with the Ha-Go, because there is no commender in it.

I would personally do it somewhat how the Jagdpanther did it, being able to use the hull MG but only when specifically switching to said MG gunners position, that way you could use hull MGs on every tank in the game without it being overpowered by not functioning as a second coax MG.

Also I don’t even think it would be a balance problem to begin with since HE ricochet angles nerfed tanks indirectly - especially tank hunters that relied on their HE to be even somewhat useful in supporting their infantry.

If DF wanted hull mounted MGs there would be hull mounted MGs. They did it for the Chi Ha Kai without any issues.

Thats because that one has it working in WT from where DF takes models.
