Why MG45 has only - 35% movement penalty?

MG42 and MG42 early, both very similar to MG45, have - 50% penalty. So why this weird inconsistency?

maybe cause it is 2.6kg lighter? idk.

I guess it makes sense? Though it feels like a very artificial condition consodering MG30 is only 0.5kg heavier but still has 50% penalty.

It burns through ammo so fast that you aren’t weighed down by it XD

Because you can price it for more. Especially since it will come back only on special occasions.

So the Kraut mains have another reason to complain about how much they suffer because their regular TT MG’s aren’t as good? I don’t know. Making sense of seemingly arbitrary changes is hard

The rules for MG mobility, as they have been explained to me by helpers, are as such:
If a machine gun is over 10kg fully loaded, it has a 50% penalty
If it’s under 10kg but has more than 20 rounds in a magazine, it has a 35% penalty
If it’s under 10kg and has 20 rounds in a magazine, it has a 25% penalty
If it’s a Maxim Tokarev or M1919A6, it has a 65% penalty
If it’s a Federov MG, it has a 0% penalty.

Vickers-Berthier and Bren with 50% penalty:

Both of those and the Type 99 just break 10 lg when fully loaded, so yeah they get the 50% penalty.

The in game atat is the empty mass, the devs went out and looked up what the gun weighed fully loaded and then went off of those numbers.

So what is the loaded weight of the MG-45? The empty gun is 9kg. I don’t think it will be lighter than the Bren with the bipod and the 50-round drum.

The devs found a stat that said the fully loaded gun was 9kg. Not sure where, but they found it.

idk, wiki says empty is 9kg

MG45 is like 2kg lighter IRL though, magic of simplification…

Funny despite the german MG series are loaded with drums and full length belt, they are not much heavier than a Bren or BAR(late config) IRL, a simplier gun and doesn’t Jam as much as other too

I guess another advantage of stamping over milling.

Since MG34, the new one gets more and more stamped parts and simplified, like they removed the 2 mode trigger the MG34 has for MG42, instead of rotating barrel rest they made it slide the barrel fron the side, the sight is simplified, the entire Hull is pretty much single stamped piece, and MG45 just make it even simplier
