I started with Normandy when I was new. There were 3 campaigns back then. I had a great time.
Maybe thats because back there people couldnt spam Jumbos, Panthers and P-47s against newbies like nowadays.
An interesting question. So far I can only name one campaign, which is not a good newbie campaign.
NORMANDY:
I get it that people love to play the most mainstream campaign of the WW2 genre. Yet, it is imo the campaign where the gap between newbies and vets, etc. is huge, mostly thanks to the arsenals. Most notable by the fact that Jumbo and Panther grey-zone campers can’t be killed by any tank below level 30 or sth. like this or air support (something which is not a real issue on other campaigns apart the KV vs. Panzer III J.). Gun-wise there are massive complaints about FG, M1919, and the old MP43 (although I don’t really share them aside M1919). The planes tend to be kinda spongy and the imbalance between air vs ground and ground vs air is concerning compared to Moscow or Tunisia (and hell even Berlin planes dont have such a devasting loadout than a P-47 or Ju).
Maps are also awful/ require a lot of tactical thinking which is something the majority of the players doesn’t have looking at the way how people attack or defend and the lack of engineers. And Airfield is there so I dont think I need to go on here.
I also have the feeling that Normandy has the most amount of suicide pilots, especially on the German side.
All campaigns are very one-sided, but the degree is difficult to measure and depends on region / time of day. Generally speaking, USSR in Moscow and Berlin, Germany in Normandy and Stalingrad face mostly bots, newbies and quitters.
Don’t know if that fits your definition of “easy”, but I myself wouldn’t call that pleasant regardless of how easy it is. Not that playing for the obvious eternal loser is any better.
In the meantime Tunisia keeps swinging heavily back and forth throughout the day, so it’s down to the roll of the dice there. I think it’s the most interesting campaign in terms of actual competiton, but it doesn’t seem like that’s what Enlisted is about. It’s also drastically different from other campaigns in terms of gameplay - more focus on longer range, however short that may still be in this game.
Yeah, but you want to thrust a new player into the P-47 and Jumbo spam, or the Ju 188 and Tiger spam?
well… unfortunately that is the nature of the game.
i’m not sure PZ IVs Shermans, T60s, PZIIIJs would be any better.
That is why you get them to start with Allies, as the axis playerbase in those three campaigns are pretty much dead, or only half alive in the case of Berlin.
Moscow and Berlin, definitely, both sides on moscow and allies on berlin
