But yes, 10 secs might be too much or there needs to be a maximum spawn penalty of maybe a minute?
I think with rallypoint such a big penalty could be, but with normal spawn only 1/4 penalty.
Possibly blocking planes for such a player for the rest of the game.
Instead of a point penalty, it’s a penalty for blocking your favorite unit.
It must be remembered that in the heat of battle, friendly fire can happen. but not all the time from one player.
I personally would like more friendly fire in the game. The meta of assaulting while harmless friendly grenades go off all around me feels silly, but it’s the best way.
& then again, people will use FF to troll, so it probably has to stay the way it is. We already see losers building barbed wire in friendly spawn, and intentionally lighting their own allies on fire.

I do not believe friendly fire would be a good solution it might open a can of worms. You have trolls, envious, selfish and nervous players. it would be chaos. The planes are perfect the way they are.
It isn’t that hard to kill most planes. If you aren’t always running an Engie squad and some type of plane, its your fault that the dude is bombing you back. Maybe fix the hit detection and damage model of the MGs and either make the gunners drool on themselves, aimbots, or controllable and leave the planes alone.
Just to be clear: I don’t think aircraft in general are in need of a nerf right now, but it seems the developers do. They initially wanted to drastically reduce the bomb loads of most aircraft in the game. I think my suggestion is a better way.

Either give the AA guns actual stock of ammo (3 or 4 magazines for a freshly built one? Is it some kind of a joke?) or straight up give it infinite mags. The reload already takes forever AND you overheat in basically just over a mag anyway, so it should be rebalanced too.
A single manned AA gun makes ground attack very hard and way less effective.
Nerfing planes would be so incredibly dumb where half the campaigns can have maps with unkillable tanks sitting 200m away. I am so fucking sick of getting farmed by time travelling T-34’s on that lake map in Moscow and playing GrB With Your Friends at 150-200m trying to hit those fucking things. Bombs already seem to have been nerfed, or the T34 is just hilariously brokenly OP. I’ve had them survive direct impact 500kg stuka bombs
Personally i think not having a single engineering point in a few matches should be a bannable offence. And we need an extra AA vehicle/fighter slot. And Engineer-only Squad slot.
Did you even read beyond the title? The whole point is to not actually make planes weaker, just require a bit more caution. Just like maybe a year or so ago, when they were absolutely dominating the battlefield, despite friendly fire. How does FF make planes unplayable, unless all you ever do is only drop bombs directly on the cap zone?
And how is FF going to impact your ability to kill tanks?
And yes, T-34 armour is bullshit, the bombs didn’t get nerfed.
There was ever friendly fire on airplanes? I’ve been playing since before they consolidated the killfeed (not sure how to check when exactly did I start, but its been maybe 2 years by now), but I never remember having friendly fire on aircraft weapons…
Anyway.
This game has no place for friendly fire, at least not in it’s current form, where the bots are just strolling in the open randomly.
And I’m already sick as fuck of moronic teammates setting me on fire all day long and throwing phosphorus wherever I’m trying to go. And when the arty used to deal reduced friendly fire, there was always some moron who would run into it and die too.
If you were to add friendly fire, it would have to be on all of the explosives, from hand grenades, to mines, to tank shells.
Also, I don’t think planes ever dominated the game. Yeah, when you have people who refuse to be useful EVER, a plane will do well. But so will a tank. So will an MG emplacement. When you look at a scoreboard few minutes in and you see 8/10 people with 0 engineering points you already know the game is probably lost.
Also, planes do not capture objectives, you can get a thousand kills and it won’t matter. Personally I often do not shoot down enemy planes if it can be avoided (unless they really are racking up kills), because that means less squads to fight on the ground
I agree wholeheartedly. Make the suicide bombers feel the consequences of their actions.
I would take it a step further an add friendly fire for grenades and other explosives as well. Maybe people will stop being so careless with them after that.
Okay, maybe it’s been over 2 years ago or even longer. My perception of time is a bit messed up. They certainly did dominate Normandy. Bombs could do damage through terrain back then and planes were super hard to shoot down. You should be able to remember that last part. A single well-timed and well-aimed bombing run could decide the battle over a capture point very quickly.
And I definitely wouldn’t be averse to having FF on all explosives (or even guns in theory, if they were to ever fix the problem of bots stumbling in front of your aim all the time).
And yeah, of course you’d get killed by teammates through no fault of your own from time to time or kill one of them because they were careless. That’s just how war is. But as long as we get to respawn close to the objective, it’s just a minor annoyance. I also think, that once people were to feel the effects off FF on themselves more often, they would in turn become more careful about dealing it out. Right now it’s just the occasional powertripping pyromaniac. I wouldn’t even mind those guys so much, if they didn’t block my path with fire everywhere and if being on fire meant being useless for several seconds. (Yeah, I’ve done it a a couple of times as well. Sometimes I just can’t help myself and go “Unlimited Powerrrrrr!”)

I remember when artillery friendly fire was a thing and the absolute bullshit things people did with it against their own team wilfully or out of sheer stupidity. And the other way around - people running into your bombardments out of sheetlr stupidity.
Sorry, but no - enlisted as a game lacks the degree of basic coordination and player integrity needed for FF to contribute anything positive to the experience.
They buffed ammo racks hp on all tanks, but it’s especially noticeable on soviet tanks.
Just by seeing morons spamming Flamethrowers, ampulomets and molotovs on friendlies i can say i never want any more FF in a game. People bomb and rocket at the points because they can’t see anyone since game has 200m rendering distance for some reason.
I’m usually using planes to destroy tanks and shoot enemies at entrances to the points or near their respawns most points don’t allow you to drop your payload into the points anyway so your idea is pointless. FF on arty and bombers are even more dumb, players would run into them without a care of the world you will always kill a few friendly players/bots and then get kicked off the game and maybe even banned.
Only nades and rifle nade launchers (not AT since people could kill your tank so they could spawn in their own) should have any FF because you control them with a full visibility and can judge instantly if it’s a friendly or not.
well tbh some friendlies are worse than bots. they see flame/WP and still go into the fire/WP.
Yeah, not only for bombs, but also explosive pack, TNT charge and APHE shells. That is not confirmed so still possible to be a bug such as some strange internal model absorbed shrapnel generated by explosion.
